Looks like Mike may be a conduit for former players like Tom to rejoin the family. I love the hire. Need the bigs to play much better D. Hope Mike can be a great influence on D in the paint. CAM should get big credit here for the hire.

Nothing against Roberts, but this smells a lot like a low budget hire. No way Roberts was at the top of any list when this search started.
He has a good resume and is an IU guy and Indiana native. He’s the #3. R-E-L-A-X
On what basis do you consider him the “#3”? What does that even mean, anyway? What was Eddie?

And that’s totally meaningless if it relates to anything other than the sequence of hiring.
Those are often title distinctions that aren’t, from a practical standpoint, meaningful. Duties in practice, game preparation and scouting, and recruiting are parceled out without regard to titles. And no one is referred to as the “#3”.
So the school with all this money to burn decided to go cheap for this one hire? Naaah. Roberts may or may not have been at the top of Archie’s list but he wasn’t hired to save money imo...
And what evidence to you have to back this up?

No I don’t think it’s a program killer. It’s the 3rd assistant. But Archie needs a savior and I can’t see Roberts being it. Archie can’t seem to recruit top end talent outside IN which will ultimately be his downfall. This was an opportunity lost (it appears) to make that happen.
If Archie would have hired an AAU recruiting specialist you would have accused him of paying players and said we needed an IU guy. The thing about being an iconoclast is that eventually no one can identify your values. Yourself included.

I’ve never, EVER, ever said we needed an “IU guy” at anything.
And I’ve never complained about AAU guys in the past. I’ve just pointed out we’re no better than other “dirty” programs in some people’s eyes. That’s not me complaining. I would have loved a big name AAU guy.

We haven’t landed a top 100 player in nearly a year. This would be unacceptable for Rutgers or Penn St.

I get it that this is a fan forum and hyperbole is the stock in trade but with that in mind where did you come up with this statement? I do not recall reading ANY posts that are even close to that level.
Most (including me) are willing to give him 3-4 years to prove he is the guy.
