could give a shit about who they beat they are fucking Rutgers

They are a good team. Gotta bring it to ensure a win. Rutgers is playing for something as well. We have a team that is capable of winning this and should pull it out. But as you can see in the B1G this year. Anything can happen
well then bring it, sick of this bullshit

Could be; lose three straight to Rutgers, Purdue, and BigTen Tournament and the losing conference record will relegate IU to the NIT. Beat Rutgers and win a Big Ten Tournament game should be safe.

Two wins over Purdue would probably be safe too.
Beat Rutgers..
And win one BTT...We're absolutely in..
Beat Rutgers...Loose two.
It might be a trip to Dayton..

I think there is zero doubt that if we go 1-1 in next two with the win against Rutgers and then 1-1 in BTT, we are absolutely in. If we lose to Buttgers and flame out the final two games, I am not sure we even see the play in game. Let’s go take care of the Knights!

I’d take an NIT banner over a trip to Dayton, but I can be contrarian at times.

PS. I remain hopeful for a better seed than a Dayton play-in game.

Despite their recent surge, Rutgers has lost 3 in a row. We need to make it 4. It would help if Michigan lost their next 3. They face tough teams but two are home games.

TE4756 - some folks think a 1 game loss in the NCAA tourney is better than an NIT banner.

Staring 5 is all juniors and seniors who have never been in the tournament. They better win this damn game. The entire CBB media will be tuned in from start to finish. Hell, everyone was watching last night.

Maybe blowing that lead was a blessing in disguise. This team needs to be reminded that they are not world beaters apparently.

Lets also remember it is college bball and shit tends to go bonkers this time of year. They hit 8 threes in the last 8 minutes. Teams go insane mode, and we saw just that last night. 4 of those threes were legit prayers. Just circus shots. You cannot guard circus shots.

Great point. Many here keep talking about IU self destructing in the second half. In last nights game we certainly gave them some momentum with a couple bad shots and several bad TOs but we didn’t blow all 20+ points. Many (at least half) came from absolute miraculous shots with good defense.

I have heard that if the game went a few more minutes we lose. I would argue that it is just as likely that with a few more minutes their shooting returns to normal and we win by 15.

We obviously have more work to do as far as taking care of the ball with a big lead, but you have to just tip your cap to 5-6 of their shots.

Top six ranked teams go down on Saturday, Nebraska looks like a tourney team yesterday, and other crazy stuff. Yes, this time of year does bring on strange events.

You might be right, but I was pretty damn happy when that stupid clock finally got to 00.0! 🥺

You guys are living in past
We have been better team last 3 years
of course we are, but at least we have one! Congrats, your high water mark in basketball is getting to decent-good and beating IU in our bad stretch! Congratulations?

PS, and trust me, I like Rutgers squad and think your coach is building something, but you haven't accomplished anything yet.

Bit of an odd thread on Rutgers considering the recent domination, but this year both teams matchup pretty well against each other IMO.

It should be an intense hard fought battle as both teams reallyyyy need this win. I'd except it to go down to the wire

Johnson looks to be crushing lately but will likely see 6'7 Caleb who is the likely DPOY in the B1G. The rest of the starters all are similar height weight and athletic ability.

Paul Mulcahy was awesome for us as a 6'6 PG who would bully smaller defenders but since the winning streak ended he has struggled with efficiency and foul trouble.

Ron and Geo are inconsistent

Cliff is a monster and him vs TJD should be a fun battle to watch of 2 amazing athletes

Probably comes down to who can hit the 3

Not so odd: it is an IU bball fan board after all! Thanks for the write up and review of Rutgers players. I love what your coach is doing and how you play... envious really, as I love tough-minded, hard-playing teams. I hope we get back to being one and I see signs of it under CMW, but we are still largely the same roster. I think Omoyuri is the type of big athletic post that can give TJD trouble, but he's not huge so I agree, that should be a good matchup, and Race can help cover him since he's not a monster size-wise. XJ has some dog in him, so I don't think he'll back down, and while a bigger defender may close out better, honestly, I think he's more steady and dangerous going to the rim. I don't expect him to back down. If it truly comes down to 3 pt shooting, I never feel good about that, but we have been a much better defensive team than you've seen from IU in recent years and of course, we are at home. I think it will be a great crowd and environment and agree, it should be a great game.

I’ll take Race covering Harper. Stop Harper from having a big game and we win. And of course X needs to stay on the court. No dumb fouls. Would love to have Trey back for this one. This will be the kind of physical and intense game that he thrives in.

I agree Cliff's length and athleticism will give TJD problems. Cliff has shown a nice drop step a few times but often goes to a line drive hook. He has a decent shot actually but rarely uses that as well. Really the key to stopping Cliff is keep him from rolling off PnR for dunks. He's tied for the nation lead and is pretty raw outside of dunks

Not saying XJ will back down, but if he gets Caleb as I expect it will be his toughest matchup of the year. This is really the matchup that could win the game for RU. Looking at recent box scores XJ isn't just scoring but racking up assists too. If Caleb brings his A game defensively, he can stop the man who seems to be the key to the Indiana offense.

Rutgers is the most inconsistent team ever though. When we are bad we look awful and have a ton of terrible losses including Lafayette DePaul UMass Maryland PSU. When we are on, we beat every single good team in the conference Wisconsin Purdue Illinois OSU MSU Iowa .

We lost our last 3 and now the team has their back against the wall which is usually when we play our best.... but we also really struggle on the road

XJ has that weapon that often gives bigger defenders problems: speed. Of course, with his length, he can lay off him a little more than most defenders, but honestly, XJ's most effective defender is himself. If he stays aggressive, I think he'll still find ways to score or get assists as long as he makes good decisions. That speed could also get him in foul trouble. I think you might have an easier time limiting TJD than XJ, but I think he could also get CO in foul trouble. If you can limit both, then you probably win as those are our 2 most potent scoring threats.

Likely also see some Jalen Miller on XJ off the bench. He plays in your face on ball D and is quick. Pretty much refuses to shoot on offense though. Our fan base argues whether he helps or hurts overall bc of it

Geo will likely get toasted by XJ but he sometimes locks in on D and has quick hands and long arms. Bad at getting through screens

I'd think that's a tough cover for Race, but if he stay in front of him, that might be our best matchup. I'd guess they'll start w Kopp on him, and I think he can cover him. Race may be needed if TJD gets fouls from Omuryi (sp?). Honestly our best physical matchup would be Geronimo and he's got all the tools to be a good defender. I know he's got it in him, but not optimistic that will be tonight. Still, I'd like to see it for awhile.
