could give a shit about who they beat they are fucking Rutgers

I'd think that's a tough cover for Race, but if he stay in front of him, that might be our best matchup. I'd guess they'll start w Kopp on him, and I think he can cover him. Race may be needed if TJD gets fouls from Omuryi (sp?). Honestly our best physical matchup would be Geronimo and he's got all the tools to be a good defender. I know he's got it in him, but not optimistic that will be tonight. Still, I'd like to see it for awhile.
You think Kopp will guard Harper? That would be a matchup Rutgers would like to see. I guess that would mean Race on Caleb.

I'm expecting Rutgers to matchup defensively like this....

Cliff - TJD
Ron - Race
Caleb - XJ
Mulcahy - Kopp
Geo - Stewart

No, now that I actually see your lineup, I'd agree it will be Race. I actually think that's better for Harper than Kopp. Kopp is OK on D and his biggest liability is footspeed, but I think of Harper as better at using his body and heft than blowing past people. Honestly, I think we'd do better with Kopp on Harper to check Harper, but that leaves Race with an even worse matchup. Race just doesn't have to guard many people out on the floor to the 3 pt line and beyond and I think is more likely to struggle with that, or give up drives, or get in foul trouble than Kopp would asking him to give up some weight, but play Harper physically. Plus, if he gets by his man, if it was Kopp, Race and Trayce can help, but if Race is guarding him, obviously he can't help. I assumed you had a PF besides Harper, which is who I was thinking Race would guard. Watch if Kopp does get matched up on Harper, I don't think he'll be able to dominate him in the post, nor do I think he'll get by him as easily as he might Race. Good, tough matchup for us.

Also, with your lineup, it won't surprise me if we see some of XJ and RP in the backcourt together, and if that happens, then we would probably see Kopp on Harper, or maybe Geronimo, who is probably our best matchup for Harper body/athlete wise, but he's not great on D yet generally and I think Harper would take advantage of him.

Interesting thanks. Ron struggles most against longer athletic defenders. For example Coleman Hawkins really shut down Ron first game we played Illinois.

Another thing to note is that Harper hurt his hand/finger a few games ago and his 3 point shooting has tanked ever since. It's on his left hand but he has been wearing a wrap on it and seems to have impacted his shooting

Mulcahy has been a matchup problem during our win streak and has struggled with fouls and inconsistent play last few games. Teams have been using bigger defenders to prevent him from bullying smaller guards since he is 6'6. Also running doubles at him in the post has been effective.

Itll be interesting to see how Indiana guards him and if Rutgers has anything to counter the recent adjustments that have slowed him down.

When Paul plays well the entire offense looks much better. He distributes and makes everyone better. Cliff especially. He hands him 3 dunks a game when he is on

I'd guess our matchups will be the same, with the exception that I'd guess we'll flip XJ to Geo. I don't like Stewarts defense and I'd guess he'll guard your lesser offensive threat, which sounds like Caleb.

ps. if you're thinking Race is "longer" than Kopp, honestly not much difference imo. I think Race is great, but he always appears undersized to me and I doubt there's an inch of differnce between he and Kopp. CMW expects players to do their job so I think he'll put Race on Harper to avoid a worse matchup for Race elsewhere, and hopefully for us, Harper's shooting struggles continue; that would help Race. Otherwise, Harper getting hot from outside I think is more likely with Race on him than Kopp, just because Kopp is more used to guarding guys out on the floor.

Teams have more recently been daring Caleb to shoot and leaving him open. As a freshman he shot the 3 well but he hasn't since. He hesitates too much lacks confidence. Can score on some turn around and mid range. Tries to get to the rim and is long but gets blocked a lot as he isn't explosive

I didn't mean to imply Race was long just that it's the type of defender Ron struggles against
