Dolson likely won't get what appears to be a homerun hire at first glance. It won't be a Stevens or May. Yes, I'm sure he's reached out to agents of the Jay Wright types but those kind of hires are doubtful. As an Auburn Alum and Indiana fan, I'm used to bad hires lol. A few years ago they made probably one of the worst coaching hires by a P5 conference in BryanbHarsin. Thy didn't even ask him his recruiting philosophy. They struck out and just settled when all the big names said no.
So, in the absence of the obvious choice, what qualities would you like to see in a coach? Me, Id like to see the following....
Fundamentally sound coach.... Teams play good defense, rebound, and take care of the ball.
Energetic personality or student of the game.
Good with X's and O's.
Understands the efficiencies of shooting 3's and layups.
Willing to build with NIL but also get out on the road and recruit high school player.
Doesn't have a $20M buyout.
Home and his players have good character. Yes, that probably eliminates Beard.
