enabling and subsiding blatant price gouging that isn't cost or supply driven, but is monopolistic, thus lack of competition driven, isn't the answer.
doing away with the monopolies/duopolies/oligopolies, and reintroducing competitive markets, is one answer.
that said, if the people don't want the monopolies/oligopolies done away with, then just regulate them, including price regulate them.
just as with actual competitive markets, (which are disappearing in the US if you haven't noticed), regulated monopolies/oligopolies can be a good solution for the consumer and worker and supplier, sometimes even superior to competitive markets when infrastructure is a primary cost of business.
what doesn't work, never has worked, and will never work, for the consumer, is unregulated monopolies/duopolies/oligopolies.
