OK, you're a developing program coming down the stretch in your recruiting class.... You've shown improvement, but you've missed on some guys you really wanted.

You've got 8 days to finish strong. Not only hold on to your recruits as pirates circle your ship... But add a couple guys to finish the class.

There are only certain types of kids you can get late:
A. Someone you've been waiting on.
B. Somebody else's recruit you flip.
C. A reach of some sort.

Reaches come in a variety of forms. It might be a kid with academic issues that other schools back off.
It might be a kid who's got a younger brother or friend you want next season.
It might be a kid who's had injury issues or otherwise would have been highly sought.
Or lastly, a kid with a particular trait or skill you PRAY you might develop.

In the past 50 yrs, IU has had more than it's share of "reaches". From Corso through Wyche, Mallory, Cameron, DiNardo, Hep, and Lynch. Coach Wilson has had fewer "reaches" compared to the others. But they happen.

Years ago IU took a young man who was borderline academically and other schools backed off of. He managed to qualify late and they ended up with a running back who ended up an All American and runner up for the Heisman trophy. He also had a younger brother they took later on.

IU needs quickness in it's defensive front. They need a pass rushing end and some push up the middle. And at least one (or two) at linebacker who can run. New names have emerged. It will be interesting.
