I know this subject has been discussed before and I have had the theory that Indiana's shooting has struggled since Cliff Marshall was hired as our strength and conditioning coach, so I decided to do some digging.
Year | 3 Point % | Field Goal % | Free Throw % |
2023 - 2024 | 33 % | 48 % | 67 % |
2022 - 2023 | 37 % | 49 % | 71 % |
2021 - 2022 | 33 % | 45 % | 70 % |
2020 - 2021 | 32 % | 43 % | 67 % |
2019 - 2020 | 33 % | 45 % | 68 % |
2018 - 2019 | 31 % | 46 % | 66 % |
2017 - 2018 | 32 % | 46 % | 66 % |
2016 - 2017 | 38 % | 48 % | 73 % |
2015 - 2016 | 42 % | 50 % | 73 % |
2014 - 2015 | 40 % | 46 % | 72 % |
2013 - 2014 | 35 % | 45 % | 72 % |
According to the stats I pulled, Cliff Marshall was hired for the 2017 - 2018 season and our shooting numbers have been down in basically all three shooting categories every year, especially in 3-Point % and Free Throw%, since he has been on the staff. Do our shooting woes have some correlation with how these kids are working out? I follow Marshall on Twitter (X) and he is always sharing body transformation pictures and I must admit, they are very impressive, but is it hurting their shooting touch or is this just an odd coincidence? Thoughts?
