Gunn is a good basketball player. He was very good in high school and he can create his own shot and is a good athlete with good size. Woodson demands his guards be play makers. Gunn is more of a 2 than a combo. But he isn't as good of a pure shooter to really be effective as a spot shooter.

Cav would play CJ over Leal 😂
If Holman would have coached Cj his entire career it would not even be a question to play him over Leal. He had as many points last night as Leal has shots this year, think about that one mac&cheese

Cj is long and athletic. Still raw as hell. Shame he wasted 2 years at IU.

Always liked his length and athleticism and thought he had the tools to be an outstanding perimeter defender. But, he's not going to be a great outside shooter and I never liked his body language. Has he ever really won at something? Maybe he won a state championship at LC for all I know, but I didn't think they had a great record and a great player should carry a HS team a long way.

Played at Lawrence North. They had some good teams. Making it out of the Indy area to state, or to win a 4A state title, is no joke. They lost to Carmel in the state title game one of his years. Lost to Cathedral, I believe, his senior year. Which was one of the better recent state championship teams.

Sisley is a better example of high school team results being somewhat of a red flag. His HH teams were all pretty average. Which is a head scratcher with them being a smaller school, not in the Indy area.

He has a ton of confidence. Delusional, but has confidence. I still remember sitting under the basket last year against sister of the poor U, and he made an acrobatic layup. Looked at me and my buddy “this shit is too easy”. I said under my breath yep shooting 12% last year from three was not easy too

Thanks, thought he was at LC for some reason, but obviously didn't look. I'd agree on Sisley. I know Coyle says he's improved a ton at MV and I think that was a smart move. I watched him vs Daryn Peterson's AAU team in Rock Hill and DP's eyes lit up every time Sisley was on him and he took it to him. In fairness, he took it to everyone that game and had 40+. One of the most impressive HS players I've ever seen. Probably right behind Sean Kemp. Manchild. Also saw Rick Fox in the IN v KY all star game. He'd had to sit out his senior year so I'd never heard of him, but he was impressive too.

Gunn may be at the right place now. He's shooting plenty of 3s, although he's only at 30%. He's always wanted to shoot a lot of shots and he probably can't do that at a top 1/2 P5 basketball school. That said, he's undoubtedly better than he was at IU. He's shooting .56 on 2 pt shots v. .343 last year, and .761 on FTs v. .667 last year. Also, for every 40M played, he's getting over 2x as many rebounds as last year.

Looked again at Bank's #s at Tulane---.35 on 3s, ,637 on 2s, .752 on FTs. Also averaging 19.6 pts & 8.9 rebs per every 40M played. His offensive efficiency # is 130.0, which is outstanding for a non-center.

One thing I think Woodson receives less grief about among the national press/public than is warranted is how many players he screws up. Gunn; Bates; Banks; MM; Tucker., Rice...seems like he's wasted more talent than any of the four coaching failures since RMK.
