Great work by Dolson. I’ve slowly come around to the realization that I’ve really misjudged him as an AD. It’s also become clearer by the day just how sabotaged and hamstrung he has been on the basketball front.
No, the negotiators wouldn't. The figures reflect anticipated damages if the other side breaches, which are driven by completely different concerns.Technically true, but the negotiators would be doing a bad job if they weren’t close. “You us $10M if you leave but we owe you $1M if we let you go” (or vice versa) isn’t gonna happen. I’m not sure how close they end up being normally but I assume they’re typically fairly close.
Coach Cig is one in a million for Indiana. We need to do all we can for continued success.Yeah, I went and looked it up. Cig would have owed us $6 million if he resigned after the season. We'd have owed him $18 million if we fired him without cause.
6M nothing to the big boys. Smart to renegotiate before a school in a recruiting hotbed bought a brings truck.
I assume both buyouts went way up. Kinda risky 10 games into year one, but that's the cost of doing business these days in college football. If we didn't do it, some other AD woulda gladly paid us 6 million for the privilege.
Yep, I get it. Kinda wild we are paying a guy 9 mil a year to coach football, but that's the market these days, and all the upheaval in college sports, especially with realignment and what happened to Washington State and Oregon State requires us to do everything required to be successful.Coach Cig is one in a million for Indiana. We need to do all we can for continued success.
I have an in-law that works in the IU Bursars office. She may very well be working on those Cig numbers at the moment! I know she has worked on some of Colts QB Anthony Richardsons IU financials. I guess he is secretly taking some IU classes!Been on X checking receipts. He was going to FSU/Florida book it. 😉🤣

I was talking about people saying he was leaving for those Florida schools. I’ve been calling them on it all morning.I have an in-law that works in the IU Bursars office. Love the optimism. lolYou're right. He'll win 11-12 every year, lol.
Sports Illustrated says $17 million if we fire him after one season. The other stuff checks out.Yeah, I went and looked it up. Cig would have owed us $6 million if he resigned after the season. We'd have owed him $18 million if we fired him without cause.

Now you'll be hearing that we overpaid, and had to because we're Indiana, and their school's real target is ##### who is more proven.I was talking about people saying he was leaving for those Florida schools. I’ve been calling them on it all morning.
Already happening. The Florida schools overspent and can’t move on from those coaches. FSU literally just fired every coordinator and had to spend to do it. ACC is so broke right now.Now you'll be hearing that we overpaid, and had to because we're Indiana, and their school's real target is ##### who is more proven.
Just like FSU wanted Allen.Been on X checking receipts. He was going to FSU/Florida book it. 😉🤣
Very important to keep the gang together.Hopefully the raise for assistant coaches will be enough to keep the staff in place.
But you can’t blame them for leaving for a HC position.
But hopefully it’s enough to keep another school from taking them for another OC and DC job.
DefinitelyVery important to keep the gang together.
I totally misjudged Dolson. I thought he was a Glass clone and would simply double-down on basketball and leave football out to dry.Kudos to you for this post.
Not many would admit it!
And I agree with you that the basketball hire just doesn't fall in line with Scott's other decisions.
You also went on record multiple times with posts saying the Big Ten was gonna boot IU from the conference because the FB team wasn't contributing enough to the Conference which was never going to happen. It was absurd of you to post that before. However, it's clear as of this year, IU football does bring value and does add value to the football side of the Conference.I totally misjudged Dolson. However, that said, any AD at any school in this conference would have to be completely living in an Afghanistan cave to not see where this was all going when realignment and media deals started up. To not prioritize football for your school would be major malpractice for an AD in this conference.
I think Scott was overruled on the basketball decision. He had a guy he went all in on. His second choice was Matta and then Buckner stepped in and shut it all down.Scott has proven he is VERY serious about building a championship football program!! I thought Scott was a puppet on a string for basketball, boy was i mistaken!!
And, I stand by the fact that they were not serious about football and could have put us in severe jeopardy. And, if we had continued that course….well, never say never. You also went on record multiple times with posts saying the Big Ten was gonna boot IU from the conference because the FB team was contributing enough to the Conference which was never going to happen. Yeah, I think my figure came from wthr.com or something like that. Either way, fairly large difference between 17 mil and 6 mil.Sports Illustrated says $17 million if we fire him after one season. The other stuff checks out.
I don't disbelieve you. Different sources can say different things. If you went to contracts then my hats off to you.
