CFP Reveal Day is here!

Cig needs a history lesson on how Ohio St will do dirty things. Starting with the 60s bs that got us the death penalty. The petition to go to the 2020 big ten championship game. The NCAA rules change from the Oregon game and on and on… will be a monumental task to get a win at that sh!ty place. Throwing water bottles on the opposing team. They need to go down.
Also their "wonderful and classy" fans tried to tear down our goal posts in 1996 after OSU struggled to beat us. Those people have no respect for anything. I used to work with a friend who was an OSU fan, and he could not defend their behavior, especially those who have caps and hunting jackets.

The NCAA has to always overthink things.
If you are giving the top 4 seeds byes just give them to the top four teams.
Why do they have to be conference champions?
Nothing against BYU,they are similar to our situation but they shouldn’t get a bye over a team who is ranked higher just because they won a conference.
Just my opinion,I’m sure there is a reason they do it this way but I just think it confuses things.

The NCAA has nothing to do with the CFP

Did they talk about PSU being rated so high? I can't come up with any justification for them to be rated higher than IU. I can see Tennessee, but not PSU. Metrics, eye test, similar opponents...there isn't any justification.

And it sucks, because just like preseason polls create bias on rankings as the year wears on...so do the initial CFP rankings.

We obviously have everything in front of us. If we win out, it doesn't matter. Where it does matter though, a lot, is if we lose at OSU. Even if we lose by less points AT Ohio State, versus what PSU did to them at home...this initial ranking sets the stage for IU to drop well below PSU if that loss happens.

When the entire regular season plays out, if IU is 11-1, with a competitive loss in the shoe...I hope the committee gets blasted by pundits if PSU is ranked higher than IU.

I think the NCAA will have nothing to do with college football very soon. It's moving towards a system that will look more like the NFL and will require a football specific commissioner to oversee everything. Plus, the NCAA is incompetent, so there's that.
They already pretty much have nothing to do with it, other than the rules. That's it.

If Penn St wins out,we end with one loss and Ohio St beats Oregon in the Conference Championship game there would be 4 teams with one loss.
I highly doubt the committee takes 33% of 12 teams from one conference.
If that’s the case,it’s pretty obvious who will draw the short straw.
To remove all doubt we need to beat OSU or Penn St needs to lose another game.

Just beat Michigan. All we have to do is go 1-0 three more times.

I highly suspect the committee takes 66% of the 12 teams from 2 conferences. I think 4 from the BT and SEC, and 1 each from the ACC and B12, is the most likely scenario. However, there's a small chance we could get left out at 11-1. At 11-1 we are getting in unless these specific, multiple scenarios play out:
  1. SMU runs the table and beats an undefeated Miami in the ACC championship
  2. BYU loses the B12 championship game, and at 12-1 with a win over SMU, they get ranked above IU
  3. TX A&M wins out and wins the SEC championship game
  4. GA, Bama, TN, & TX all finish with 2 losses
If ALL of those things happen then IU will be squarely on the bubble at 11-1. As an IU fan it is impossible not to start looking at the outlier and focusing on it, but there's a much greater likelihood that we are in at 11-1 rather than out.

If we beat Michigan and then win the next one and the next one and the Championship they can't keep us out...

Beat Michigan because if we don't it's highly unlikely that any of the rest of the conjecture matters...

BEAT MICHIGAN !!!

I know this is all fun conversation pieces so I get the value in talking over scenarios.

But we're going to beat MI and OSU. Therefore, just to be clear, this is all a moot conversation in the end. That's just what's going to happen.
