Cav thinks Woodson's teams play hard

Has money affected hard play against a weak opponent? Kind of like the NBA when they only play hard when they need to? You've got to think the guys getting paid aren't losing their spot...

They will find out next week what kind of team they have. I think they get at least two games even if they lost the first and may get three games if they lose their 2nd game. Not sure and my memory sucks anymore.

The problem is they don't seem conditioned to play hard all the time. They lack situational awareness and the most basic fundamentals. This team has so much talent but for whatever reason, they're simply not being coached up.

I have used their complete lack of understanding how to rebound as a prime example of a super easy teaching technique that CMW coached teams have always lacked. Hummel called it out repeatedly as if to gasp at just how glaringly awful that is. I'm telling you, if CMW doesn't do magic soon, he is cooked.

The best example of lack of awareness and basic fundamentals ... Malik does not block out on a missed FT by them and they get the rebound. Hummel said it best even when they were up 16 twice ... doing some little things that you will not get away with playing more athletic bigger players. UCLA, tough, Michigan looks decent, MSU is typical team, Purdue looks good so far, Illinois will be tough as long as Underwood is coaching there ... They can call me a whiner all they want ... I see the same BS year after year with great talent.

I'm genuinely hoping for better because I really want CMW to be the guy but I'm going to call a spade a spade.

Reneau is what he is, decent low post scorer, average athlete, piss poor defender and rebounder for his size. pretty much same player he was as a freshman, has better numbers because he plays more.

I didn’t even know there was a bball game on tonight. I’ve gone years without missing any, and I’ve become apathetic. Woodson doesn’t coach like he cares, why should I?

And it’s nothing against the guy, he just isn’t a good coach. Whatever politics that go on behind the scenes when picking a bball coach need to stay far away from the next hire.

It's Buckner... Best Buds even when lose close to Kansas they smoke cigars together I'm sure if we lose by 20 to Gonzaga Buckner will have the cigars ready.

Rice is a find so is Tucker. The problem is our best lineup needs minutes with Rice, Carlyle, Tucker, Mgbako, Reneau.

Which is crazy because IU's roster is deep. If the excuse is that's not the case, that's also on Woodson. In either case, there are no more excuses for the staff. A win is a win but to pretend there aren't glaring concerns as of today, would be a lie.

I told u guys same old lack of defense awareness no fundamentals on rebounding. Also we started off great against South Carolina and today what does Woodson do brings in the subs and let's them get back in the game I'm tired of this..

What kills me is that this team has so much potential that will likely go unrealized due to poor coaching. Right now we look like a team that will win one game in the NCAA Tournament and then be sent packing.

Is it that deep though? We got 8 that can play and Goode and Caryle haven’t played well at all

Hummel said it best last night… IU is probably the most talented team in the big ten, let’s see if they can come together and gel as a team.
That was a "set the table" comment from Hummel. Whom I like as an announcer. He sees our faults and expects other B10 teams, like p-u, to exploit us and beat us.

let's face it, we may be the most disgruntled 4-0 fan base in the nation right now.
next couple weeks will be telling. the conf schedule will be its usual meat grinder.
I thought this squad had the means to get to 25 wins this year. Feeling a little iffy about that prediction right now.

This was the closest thing to one of last season's pre con games in terms of performance. That said, this UNCG team is, IMHO better than most any pre con opponents last year. Before the "line change", IU looked sharp. Watching again this morning. I'm reminded that Galloway has always been either an infusion of energy, or an infusion of WTF are you thinking. Last night was the latter.

When I get discouraged, I do a mental comparison of Myles Rice and X. It just makes me feel better. I'm not, at least at this point, concerned about getting to 24, maybe 25 wins.
