Carlyle???

Galloway should be starting until/unless Carlyle proves he can create for others as well as Galloway or score more. Their defense is close enough I don’t notice a drop off with Galloway. Reneau and Mgbako on the floor at the same time really makes our defense bad. If they aren’t scoring 15+ ppg each then it’s hard to play them together.

Carlyle was out with an injury, according to the announcers. He was limping at times yesterday, so I believe it.

This team is not capable of defending when Mgbako is on the floor, but they can't score when he isn't. If he doesn't improve, it's hard to see us competing for a conference title.

Leal should get Tucker's minutes until he learns to defend and shoot.

Correct me if I'll wrong but Carlyle didn't even start or make a huge impact last year for a terrible Stanford team. He's got a long way to go before he makes an impact for us.
Ranked No. 45 overall by ESPN and No. 50 by On3. Was a five star recruit at the time of his signing, ranked No. 15 overall by ESPN.

He averaged 12 points and is another top 50 recruit we paid big bucks. Yet teams with much smaller payrolls look far far better than us. I would love to know what the NIL at Wisconsin was cause they look pretty darn good and I bet they did not even spend half of what woodson did.

This! He made a good impact, but definately not huge. Definatelty shitty Stanford team. Mentioned this lots of times over summer. The Tamar Bates factor. (Scoring better on a shitty Missouri team). I swear people would think Antoine Davis would have scored 18-20ppg at IU but would barely reach 10-11.

His defensive hustle is a start and should evolve into a decent scorer for IU. 8-9ppg probably would be his ceiling at IU this or next season.

I was wrong on Carlyle. Liked his highlights enough that figuring he'd make gains as matured, he'd be a very good scorer for us. I was happy we got him. He's not at that 'made gains' level I was hoping for.
When I said Robert Johnson 2.0, I was hopin for RoJo's shot. We shall see.

Leal shouldn't have anyone's minutes. Great kid, not a high level basketball player.

I hesitate to say the word system, but in this mess, it's not a good fit for us as a starter. He needs the ball in his hands to get shots and make things happen. Neither him or Rice are right for our stagnant clogged mess. Atlantis proves that we are the caliber of a Big East mid-level team. I watched a lot of basketball this month and saw a lot of really good competitive games. Call it coaching or not, but we are not up for the challenge of top 20 competition. Somehow, bartorvik is right again. Archie's staff and a senior citizen mediocre nba coach results.

I believe the poster; in their opinion is saying that MM is not a very good defender.
Okay, don't disagree with that but that's not what he said.

To point Mack out as the reason why the defense has been bad when the biggest mistakes and breakdowns are being made in switches and rotations mostly involving Ballo, and when Tucker get lost as much, Malik still gives shooters too much space, doesn't board for his size, Goode who is by far the worst defender on the team can't stop anyone from driving on him, while Rice is getting physically outplayed and not disrupting the ballhandler enough, and Trey gambles too much off the ball, is about asinine.

Mack gets lost at times, looks lazy too often and plays too straight up but he's not the sole reason the defense sucks ... that's just blatantly stupid.

That is absolutely what I said. Not my fault if you didn't read it well. I also don't know why you only quoted the first clause of the sentence. But whatever.

More importantly, if you have something to add to the conversation, just f-ing say it, instead of hitting me with a drive by, one-word, ****wit insult.

You are capable of better.

Agree with everything you said. I think the combination of Reneau, Ballo, and Mgbako against any team that plays 4 or 5 out is going to be horrible.

Carlyle has some sort of injury. Until he can play and maybe after, Galloway will start. He does much better in the 2 spot. We have to recruit guards and keep them for more than a year.

I haven't given up on Rice but I do question that Carlyle will start moving forward when he is healthy. Gallo can earn the spot by playing well over the next 2 games.

The next two games are no measuring stick on playing well. That’s our problem every year playing a terrible pre conference schedule.

Does he really have an injury or was he out with Trey and being underage, its quietly being handled in a different way?
(Only being semi-serious)
