Always seems quiet here on Game-day, maybe it's Saturday morning and I'm imagining things - would hardly be a first. In fact right now I'm imagining IU having a 'statement game' that says something along the lines of "Beware Assembly Hall" even though the game is being played at Banker's Life in Indy. A game illustrating that the Team's potential under Archie Miller is manifesting as a formidable reality and puts opponents on notice that Indiana has its mojo back and is ready, able and oh so willing to steal yours.

Someone pointed out that Miller has had a week to prep for this game and that as such it's as much a 'referendum' on his ability as the Team's. Fair point, though harder to adjudge because being limited to the sideline he's a step removed from actual play on the Court. That said, his influence is undeniable, and however adept he may be at 'X's an O's', individual performance and chemistry among the Players is less subject to his control. Perhaps as a fanbase 'we' just don't care - 'we' want to see excellence, fluid execution and lockdown defense, and ten games into the Season, that is not an entirely unreasonable expectation.

Butler is not big or dominant inside. Health-wise IU should be as flush as they've been all year, and if the defense doesn't surrender the perimeter, the Hoosiers should win this going away. At least that's how it might look on paper. Should be a good game and a quality tune-up for Conference play since solid as Butler may be, they are still likely a step down from B10 caliber. Friendly if somewhat unfamiliar venue and the Bulldog's 'super bowl' game in some respects, but at this point shouldn't be enough to derail IU. Fact is, today I simply want to see IU thrash someone. Leave no doubt.

The close games are certainly exciting, but I agree and would rather this one not be close. Hopefully the team having the extra week to work together with more players getting healthy is a boon for us. Regardless, I just want a W

The only way we lose is if Archie gets out coached. We'll easily have the 2 best players on the court

I didn't understand this comment when RMK coached and I still don't. All a coach can do is put the players in a position to win. He can't take the shots, grab the rebounds or even throw the ball away.

There are certainly things coaches can do to negatively impact a game (not emphasize fundamentals, inadequately scout an opponent, chamge defenses in the middle of a possession, etc..), but Archie certainly isn't guilty of any of these things.

Duke lost earlier this year despite having at least the 3 best players on the court. Did coach K get outcoached? Was that game vs Gonzaga a referendum on this coaching prowess?

Sometimes the overly dramatic comments in this forum are unbelievable.

I hate thinking that any one game is a referendum on a coach. Wat shot beat number 1 ranked UK. If we use that one game as a referendum on Crean, then he is the best coach in the country. Conversely, Minnesota 106 - Indiana 56 doesn't make Bob Knight the worst coach ever. We could lose today because Archie gets out-coached. We could also lose because Romeo and/or Juwan have off games. They are human. Butler's new transfer could go off for 30... who knows?

Obviously, I'm hoping that none of that happens. But if we lose today and somehow win the NCAA, no one will remember what happened today. This one game doesn't mean much with respect to Archie's legacy.

I just hope that the extra week of practice and rest for those who needed it has us looking more like the team that played Marquette before we had that run of injuries. The team that ran Marquette off the court is a top 15 team. I am hoping to see that team show up today.

Indiana has struggled to find options offensively outside of Morgan and Ro. With a week to prepare and a propensity for gritty, tough wins, I would say Butler should be in a great position to win the game.
For IU to win, they will have to shoot the ball well and especially limit turnovers, and maximize trips to the line, because if history is any judge, Butler will knock the snot out of our guys physically.

Archie has already showed good results from having preparation and this is the big one before a lighter schedule. Miller should have then prepared, they just have to execute and play smart. Should be a good game.
