Braylon Mullins

I’ve watched Mullins play 5x this season and he’s legit. The last HS player I was impressed with this much was Desmond Bane, who I watched 8 times over two years when he was at Seton Catholic. Everyone but Jamie Dixon and his then assistant, Ryan Miller, missed on him. Miller is now at Creighton and highly regarded as one of the best recruiters in the country. IU needs a guy who can land and keep recruits. When Woodson and his lousy staff are shown the door, hopefully recruiting Indiana kids and actually giving a crap about building and maintaining relationships becomes the norm.

Seen too many HS phenoms do nothing at the next level. Don’t get excited until you see them play against P4 opponents.

He played against P4 high caliber kids on the AAU Circuit and excelled. He will be great at UCon. Hurley didn’t fly half way across the country multiple times and work his butt off for this kid on a hope and prayer he would be great.

He's very good. He wouldn't have fully shown it playing for Woodson though.

I saw him play a number of games last summer...and in that less structured, individualized AAU environment, when he was facing truly elite level players and teams, he wasn't as effective. Don't get me wrong, he was still impactful. But when he faced Daryn Peterson, as one example, you quickly realized there are different levels of "5 star" kids.

Peterson, and his game, would translate and he would have been successful in Woodson's program. Mullins needs more structure, good offensive flow and sets. He'll get that with Hurley and UConn.

Yep, I saw IE here in Rock Hill in that game vs Peterson and they played Mullins very physically and it really bothered him. Still showed flashes, but didn't look like a kid who was going to step up a level and be a starter/1 and done guy. Athletic and good elevation on his jumphsot w quick release, but as of this past June or July, he needed to get a good bit stronger. Peterson was a man and could take it to anyone on IE: bigger guys like Sisley he could get by and smaller guys he could body. I don't think Mullins will even start at UConn next year, and I don't think he cares. I think he believes in the program and didn't in CMW's program and that's that.

That really hurts that he didn't believe in IU's program. But he isn't wrong.
