Being contacted during a job search is not a high bar. IU probably contacted 10+ coaches. It's a coaching search. We were never close to hiring Brownell anyways.

I don't know why anyone would even bring this back up. Dolson was just doing his job and investigating candidates, better and lesser. It's what you do when you hire people. Accomplishment-wise, I'm not even sure Brownell is "lesser". He's been to the tournament like 8X and has a S16 and E8. Dolson should have looked into Brownell; it's called doing his job. That may seem odd to folks after the last 25 years, but it would be irresponsible if he hadn't. Brownell's record after 1 year at Clemson was quite similar to CDDs at Drake and his 1 year at WVU.
