Just out of curiosity, if a team loses in the first round of the new CFP on the Dec 20th weekend, then are there no actual bowl opportunities for them? No additional practice time that used to be a perk, additional TV exposure, warm holiday venue rewards, bowl bling for the players, etc? If that is the case, I would think it hurts those programs. They lose a lot in my opinion. I know, I need to have a "go all the way" or get past the first round mentality but it still seems to hurt quite a few good teams in the long run.

That is correct.
The bad thing, in my opinion, is that these 1st round CFP games are treated just like NIT games (or the old NCAA setup for the men’s bball tournament): The lower seed plays on the home field of the higher seed. No ticket split. Just a normal home game for the higher seed with an allotment of tickets for visiting fans. If you are a lower seed, you are at a huge disadvantage. I don’t like it.
And, it feels like it cheapens the whole prestige of making the CFP.

Thrilled to see IU mentioned, but a match up against the Domers is a wet dream.

So I assume season ticket holders would get priority for any game potentially taking place in Bloomington?
That is my understanding.
The ticket office would give season ticket holders the option to purchase tickets in their normal seats for the game.

Now, keep in mind, these games are Dec 20th and 21st. Friday and Saturday. The Friday game is at 8 pm. The Saturday games are 12, 4 pm and 8pm. Nice cold games for teams hosting up north. Students on Christmas break. This year is the inaugural season and I’m sure they will have a lot of things to work on as this setup is being the guinea pig.
