No way. I don’t even hate the Purdue program of today like many of you but still think you’re ridiculous for wishing IU to lose.

I do think we have a shot. A lot of pressure on Purdue Friday night. We have nothing to lose. Hopefully we put Sunday behind us and play well.

Other than it being a rivalry game I don’t see why Purdue would have any sort of pressure to win this, same as iu. If anything I would think iu has more pressure to win since you guys/Woodson are desperate for good wins to make the tournament. Purdue is humming along as usual and should be playing pretty care free.

lol im sure there’s colts fans on this thread that didn’t want them to lose to get Andrew Luck. Suck for Luck!!!!

You've got that wrong. IU has nothing left to lose. They are bruised and battered and have been smacked and laughed at.

Purdue has everything to lose. And IU has enough talent to win, which is why it should make Purdue fans nervous.

Purdue has everything to lose? Lol what a ridiculous statement and not even close to reality. No Purdue fans are nervous about this game either from anything I’ve read. But if you think you have enough talent to come into Mackey and win, throw some money down on it and make a few bucks.

No offense, but you’re either drunk or not very smart.

IUs season is basically over and coach will be fired in two months. Purdue is playing for a conference championship. Under no circumstances does IU have more pressure to win at Mackey because literally no one expects them to win, including the entire fanbase.

This has nothing to do with betting on the game. And yes, IU does have the talent to win if Woodson could ever figure out how to coach up his team.

Sorry NO! If Purdue plays to their TALENT, this game belongs to Purdue! If IU plays to their TALENT they might make it close! I understand things happen, and upsets do come, but IU fans do this TALENT crap every year. This IU team has average TALENT with a average coach. IU was a lot better when TJD played than this team. This IU team has a lot of age on it, Purdue on the other hand is really a mixture of Juniors and Freshmen, and their Freshmen have really gotten a lot better. Purdue next year will have a lot of TALENT, IU ????

Unfortunately, the way things are going, we'll pull it out by a single point, CMW saves his job for another season and we live through another year of sheer hell.
I wish we could just be done with it!

short of a complete turnaround and a S16 or better, I don't think there's a way for him to be back next year. I think the performance to date, with what was supposed to be (and I think still is) a talented, and highly paid, roster has revealed to all the shortcomings of our current coach and staff.

Didn't you recently lose to Ohio State at home after IU beat them on the road? Is that what Boilers call "humming along as usual"? Keep playing "pretty care free" and a reincarnation of Jalen Hood-Shifino will be what you see.

Losing at home to IU would be devastating to Purdue's chances at a B10 title.

I don't think IU wins either but saying there isn't pressure on Purdue is nonsense. Lose this game and you're 3 games out in the loss column while still having to play a road game against the current leader.

no matter what the end game is, just can't root against IU..especially at Mackey. I think the remaining schedule will bring enough Ls to seal CMW's fate. It's probably already sealed barring some miracle turnaround and I don't see that happening. The optics of the game end situation vs MD should tell the right people that we need a course correction.

Purdue will be a very heavy favorite. Damn straight they have everything to lose if they don't win. In the extremely remote chance IU wins, it could hurt Purdue's seeding in the NCAAT.

All logic completely supports you and I agree with the innate talent assessment. But with the "powers that be" in charge, I have no confidence that they'll pull the trigger at the end of the season.

Can't do it. Will never cheer for Purdue over IU...any circumstance, any sport.

What they do outside their head to head games...sure, whatever leads to a new coach for IU...but not these games.

Laughable that they'd any PU fan would say they have no pressure and nothing to play for in this game, when NCAA seeding and a B10 championship is on the line for them. Then remember that this is a PU fan saying that on an IU fan board... and let them tell you again how IU is not their Super Bowl.

What does purdue have to lose? We may have the talent but we don't have the coaching. Painter can coach circles around woodson.

I'd day we are ten times more likely to lose by 15 plus vs winning by 1. Woodson cannot coach two good halves back to back.

I think there's some pressure to limit the embarrassment level to keep from hearing 10 minutes of "keep Mike Woodson" chants.

I don't buy that there's much pressure on Purdue. They know that if they play hard for 40M IU will fold. If by some miracle its a close game with 10 minutes left their coaches will tell them 'keep the pressure on. They will collapse"'

To paraphrase Jim Mora... Tournament? Really, Tournament?

Seriously

Painter may let it go all the way down to the wire just to allow their fans to be hyper-entertained by our version of a Benny Hill Chinese Fire Drill, Last Shot Scramble... I'd imagine that nearly all of our future away crowds are hoping to get a glimpse of that...

The old Washington Generals have nothing on us... Mike Woodson and his "hard working" pals are a laugh a minute (if you don't mind losing)...

//Woodson and his entire staff should have been fired the second they walked off the floor after that "last shot play" debacle... Turn it all over to the Managers and Grad Assistants. They couldn't do much worse...//

Pressure is perhaps the wrong word. They are expected to win, it would be a bad loss for them.

If we seriously want to have a chance of winning there we need to somehow build this up as something tantamount to an NCAA first round game... A true "tune up for the Tournament"...

Our D would look stellar due to the toiletmakers having a difficult time getting a shot up with both their hands wrapped firmly around their own throats...

(Or...., we perhaps could just change our name to Farleigh-Dickinson South for an evening)

Now That Would be "Pressure"... 😉🤣

What makes anyone think this team can win at purdue? It would have to play its best game of the year for a full 40 minutes plus. They would almost have to play a perfect game

I never would have thought that the 1992 IU team would have lost to PU, especially after they beat them by 40 in the first game. But, crazy shit happens sometimes in a rivalry. If you can't get up for a rivalry game in any year, then there is a huge problem.

You need to to re-read my post...

I don't think we have Any shot at winning unless p u thinks of this game as a "Tourney Tuneup" and finds a way to Choke it away (which they consistently do every Tournament)...

I hate when I have to explain my jokes... 🙄😞😖😎🙈

The upcoming Friday night game against IU is a game Purdue wants to win. It is a home game that would damage Purdue's B1G title quest should they lose. In today's ESPN Bracketology, Purdue is a 2-seed, so a loss would likely drop them a line, but that while not desirable isn't terrible. It is a game against an in-state rival that Purdue would very much want to win for its fans.

Having written that, in order for IU to make the tourney, they need some big wins. At present, they are listed as out. A win in a nationally televised game would help a lot. Plus, it would make a fanbase that is somewhat despondent (simply read this thread or board for that matter) very, very happy. I see the upside for an IU win much greater than the upside for a Purdue win which to me correlates to greater pressure on IU as they need it more.

As for the OSU loss at Mackey Arena: the loss occurred because Purdue fell apart in the second half. They gave up a rather large lead and shot very poorly in the second half. Shooting percentage is highly correlated in a positive manner with fatigue. In the 10 days or so preceding the OSU loss, Purdue had road trips to both coasts of the USA. I attribute the loss to the extensive travel. This is not unique to Purdue. Illinois, Michigan and Iowa have been upset in games shortly after their West Coast trips. So I chalk OSU up more to the novelty of more travel and the resultant fatigue than anything else.
