Bob Knight at Today's Practice

Is he still avoiding wearing red to make a point?

Exact opposite of when Miller kept the team in the locker room for Knight’s return.
Knight came out onto the court at halftime of a game this was a practice. Coaches don’t bring their team onto the court during halftime. It’s important to have a set routine.

Not defending Miller, but you can’t blame him for that, especially when there was no player or coaching staff member who even knew Knight personally. The event was about Knight, his former players, and the fans.

Good point.
I think I would feel that watching an icon and former pro players and the crowd reaction would have been worth gold for that game and beyond. I personally would have brought the team out to see.

Yeah I would have brought them out as he was introduced for a few minutes at least.

Are there other cases of a former coach being honored at a halftime where the players stayed out or came back out for the ceremony?
