Blue Blood Program

Don't worry, football season is around the corner! Football in Bloomington never looked better!!!

Blue Blood programs don’t settle for barely recognizable Mid Major coaches. If IU isn’t considering Beard or Wade , it just shows they are not serious about becoming a powerhouse again. Wade proved his abilities at LSU and Beard would kill it at IU. If no elite coaches want to come , well I guess the program is dead. However , I’m sure a certain amount of $$$ would bring them. Offer Pitino or Wright $12 million a year for 5 years. Tired of the scared IU mentality and approach. College hoops is a business now and they need to act accordingly.
I honestly do not view us as a blue blood. I wish we were, but our blue blood status died about 20 years ago.

Your idiocy has no bounds.

You realize you didn’t even like the Cignetti hire right? And I … have no doubt you’re serious because you have zero vision. Zero critical thinking. IU basketball is a sleeping giant.

IU football could go 8-4 for a million years and we’d be fine with that. IU basketball still wants national championships.

Do you understand the difference?
How long has the giant have to sleep before someone checks a pulse and pronounces him dead.

I mean — the hope strategy is cute but to virtually anyone——what do you expect?

And let’s see if by being unable to bring in 30+ twenty six year olds doesn’t hurt the football side this year. Remains to be seen what drop off might be there as well. Seems reasonable.

Just hire someone to build it back— won’t stop saying it. “Buying” it back is a path to the past not the future.

Get someone in here that places expectations and accountability right in their grill. Want your bag but not the rest — move along.

If they don’t want it — as other adjacent programs have recently said —. GFY.

Big boy pants.

Buy some.

Wade was a cheat.

If iU is a blue blood with five championships in basketball....then Army is a blue blood in football with five championships. No difference at all. They are equal.

Death, taxes and this embittered bridge troll showing up at vulnerable moments to throw feces.

We have blue blood NIL and blue blood resources but we do have have the guts to hire a blue blood coach. We settle on a mid major because we will not touch anyone with any skeletons at all.

You don't think a guy like that will break whatever rules that are left to break?
I'm with you. I don't understand the "it's legal now" nonsense. That's irrelevant; it was illegal back then. Besides, for a job such as this, the FBI wiretap thing is about character, not legality.

I don't care if Wade is a winner ... he's a scumbag. I thought the same when KS was hired (and still do, tbh). Winning is important, but so is a basketball program's reputation. And that's not a "holier-than-thou" stance like some of the knuckleheads believe. Rather, it's about having standards.

Back to the blue blood thing again.

IU hasn't been noteworthy since Eisenhower. The point of reference we all argue about was from 1971-1996. Before and after have proven to be the norm that is IU. Bobby Knight University of S. Indiana was the blue blood program. Indiana is a Swiming and Soccer school. There are plenty of coaches out there that can continue that tradition. Greg McDermott is perfect. He could push our below average last 10 years right up there to high end mediocrity. Cronin would kill himself in 18 months. McCollum doesn't want the smoke, Brownell looks like it's "where do I want fired from in 4 years" well Bloomington is close to home, can put my stuff in moms attic.

Of the guys with the sack to do more than just survive the IU job, all but one fd up in one way or another at some point. The guy with the most banners ever was the dirtiest coach ever......but he seemed really nice.

We're not a blue blood.

Does Houston have a bad reputation? Or St John’s? Not at all. In fact it’s the opposite. Those schools are celebrated.

I also don’t hear a lot commentators during games bringing up shit about Sampson’s or Pitino’s past. This is all about people’s warm and fuzzy feelings. I suppose all the parents of the kids who play for Houston or St John’s are horrible parents?

Seriously, the media and broader country don’t care if a school “does it the right way.” This country celebrates winning, period.
