Blue Blood programs don’t settle for barely recognizable Mid Major coaches. If IU isn’t considering Beard or Wade , it just shows they are not serious about becoming a powerhouse again. Wade proved his abilities at LSU and Beard would kill it at IU. If no elite coaches want to come , well I guess the program is dead. However , I’m sure a certain amount of $$$ would bring them. Offer Pitino or Wright $12 million a year for 5 years. Tired of the scared IU mentality and approach. College hoops is a business now and they need to act accordingly.

College basketball has changed and IU has yet to figure out how. NIL availability doesn’t add as much advantage to “available resources” as we like to think.

Duke and UK did. Duke looks to be doing pretty well. Remains to be seen with UK. Although the SEC currently has four top 10 teams with A&M and UK being ranked 14th & 15th to boot. Pope is in a damn tough conference for his first year at UK. And this is Scheyer’s first head coaching job ever.

Football runs college sports now. The only programs that would dump that much money into a basketball coach either don’t play football or they could care less about it.
You can get a quality head coach in basketball for $5-6 million a year. Hell, all of the good basketball teams (with exception of Duke) right now are big time football schools. Just make the right hire. You don’t have to beg Brad Stevens to come here. The guy has been out of coaching for a decade and probably doesn’t want to do it again.
I don’t want anybody that doesn’t have their heart into it. We just went through that: a guy that supposedly loved the school but had zero concept of the work involved at this level. You have to live it and breath it.

And Scheyer is the only true success so far. Pope looks like he could be but Conin isn’t the answer and Davis will probably be fired next year. IU has been in the basement for 2 decades now. Time to try something different.

I’m still holding out that they are keeping things quiet on the Chris Beard hire. 😀

Disband basketball and put the resources into football. I’m serious.
Your idiocy has no bounds.

You realize you didn’t even like the Cignetti hire right? And I … have no doubt you’re serious because you have zero vision. Zero critical thinking. IU basketball is a sleeping giant.

IU football could go 8-4 for a million years and we’d be fine with that. IU basketball still wants national championships.

Do you understand the difference?

This is almost exclusively what blue blood programs have done. It’s what most major programs do because coaches are far less likely to leave if they have things humming along at a major program. Outside of UCLA getting Cronin and USC getting Musselman, I can’t recall a coach leaving a big program unless they were running from a circumstance at their previous school.

Neither are elite. Beard lacks offensively. Wade lacks defensively. Severely. The only way either could become elite is to hire someone to cover the weak side. Wade is younger and probably more apt to do that. Currently Wade has Tom Crean like numbers, certainly not proven.
