The sign of terrible coaching is always, always reflected in the turnover margin. It’s a sign of a coach who doesn’t preach the value of each possession or valuing the basketball.
And, it’s been a stat that has plagued all Woodson teams, 20 turnovers that provided 26 points to the opposition is a bad head coach.

Well in fairness, he ran with Galloway and Leal. Not the best or most athletic guard, but the guys who gave us our best chance at winning. Those two combined for 10. The rest of the team combined for 9. I do agree that it’s plagued Woodson his entire career at Iu and is a hallmark. It’s also a function of him not recruiting a great PG. Or better yet, got a PG to commit and come to IU. Rice was supposed to be that player, but it’s evident he is a mid tier D1 guard. We were a better team with him on the bench tonight. He could not defend smith.

No question. We cannot land a legitimate high level PG. Last one we had was Yogi. 8 years ago. That’s 8 recruiting classes. Terrible.

It's a long season and he is still recovering from his medical problems. It's not an excuse but it is a reason.

If Rice isnt healthy why did we go and get him? I feel for the young man. What he went through was horrible But his play is out of control and he cant play D worth a hoot. Number 9 was a cast off that we scooped up. Might be good sometime down the line somewhere else but I dont see it happening here in this broken system. But IU is good at throwing money in the air and Im sure we will continue to make dumb choices in the future.

Good guards can create their own space. Good guards dont dribble the ball down the lane and out of bounds. Good guards make open shots. Good guards dont sit the bench all night because of bad play. Good guards play D. Good guards dont shoot 44% from 2 and 32% from 3. Saw a good guard playing tonight. Could have been for us.

Like most of us knew. Carlyle? Easily saw this coming, just not this bad. Rice? His health problems and recovery is not the recipe for the big ten. Its why I was wishing the hoosiers had another quick guard to begin the season.
