I think they have the same as IU, 6 players committed. They lost all of their players from last year, which is basically where we are as well. But its wild that it happened to that program and that coach. I agree.

Luckily Scott Drew has lots of good equity built up there. He is smart to stay there over a Kentucky or IU.

a Baptist institution probably struggling with nil and everything being out in the open, Drew worked better in the shadows
Or a year where double the players lost eligibility. 40%+ players this year completed eligibility compared to 20%+ the last few years and 25%+ before the 5 year era. There will be more than one team that struggles to put together a roster without dipping into D2.

Plus, IU has 7 players, they have 5... give it a week, things change quickly.

On the front of the uniform.
They keep changing the uniforms, so we not only don't know the players, we don't know what color unis are the IU players wearing!

I guess I'm old. One of the great joys I've had in being a fan was watching a player develop over 4 years, from the deer-in-the-headlights freshman to the smart & aggressive junior or senior. But now the rosters churn over so fast that no such continuity will seemingly ever exist, other than for maybe the end-of-the-roster guys who find a niche over time.

I've never had an issue recognizing players after the first game. It's not rocket surgery. I think some people are just being over dramatic...

Regardless of uniform worn, it says the same on the front as it always has.

That doesn’t matter anymore unless you are recruiting that type kid. I’m all for kids getting paid but I like it to be paying the talent you retain. Like Purdue has done with Edey and Smith. They play for the name on the jersey, gave the home town discount to stay and play for that team. I hope Devries recruits this way.

High floor/low ceiling team? No thanks. That's good enough for Purdue, not good enough for IU. I hope he recruits smart players like Purdue does but fills in with actual high level talent. High floor/low ceiling teams do well in December, not so well in March.

What is high level talent in your mind? All Americans? National player of the year? Just curious

Athletic highly skilled 2 way players. Cheaney, Zeke, TJD, Graham, Henderson, Dipo... not the occasional diamonds in the rough Painter found dumpster diving.

I don’t agree with that… National runner up, sweet 16 and will be #1 or #2 preseason next year. They are really good program currently.
So is Creighton... I wouldn't aspire to be either of them... Kansas, Duke, Florida...those are more fun aspirations.

So is Creighton? What? Take PU off the jersey and tell me you wouldn’t want a program ran like that and having that success. If. It then question your basketball fandom.

This team is shaping up to be one of the teams Purdue struggles with. Mid-major 😝😉

If in my pursuit to be like Kansas, Duke, or Florida type programs, I landed at being like Purdue or Creighton for a while...cool, I guess. But no, I would not choose to have a Matt Painter run program, over the many other potential ways to be successful. I'm cursed because I've experience it before. "Home" for me is more like one of those programs I mentioned, or like Jay Wright Villanova or UConn...that's what I founded my college basketball fandom on. So why would I settle for Purdue/Creighton aspirations? Even though it has been a long damn time. I'll always want to go home.

Jesus your Purdue is showing again. Give the painter nut hugging a rest.

RMK told him half the secret - recruit smart players - he didn't tell him the second half. You need high level talent. I hope we do what 1/2 of what Painter does, plus talent. Purdue does a good job developing, and dumpster diving but he never has a enough talent. Edey/Smith surrounded by scrubs. Smith/TKR surrounded by scrubs.. smart one dimensional scrubs but still scrubs. It doesn't work, unless December championships are the goal.

Again PU doing it like the IU teams and the Villanova teams. Development and program fits.

Preseason polls and November Natty's...

Not Duke, too reliant on freshman.

Dude, again, I’m just stating that they seem to be navigating this portal, NIL just fine even though this board said they would fail badly and. It be able to win after Edey. I would much prefer to have a team that is recruited and developed and then paid vs nonstop turnover

No one said a thing about turnover .. that's a different conversation.

I guess, yeah. Duke, and then Calipari model, probably also not desirable. But Duke has put themselves in a position to win it all quite a lot in the last 20 years. For me, its basically just watching the teams play, and being able to realistically say...yeah, that team could win a Natty. Without Edey, Purdue has never had one of those teams. I'd like for IU to get back to having one somewhat regularly.
