So far we've held the opponents to an average of 18 points put up against us while playing primarily base defense and have laid an average of 32 points on the opposition while playing a presumed "vanilla" offense.

Can't wait to see what we can do when we open up the whole playbook on both sides of the ball!

Absolutely.

Two points about the ppg stat. We definitely could've scored more against BSU in the 4th quarter (we understandably took our foot off the gas and went with Fiacable), and the scoring was held down against Virginia due to the weather. So that's a "soft" 32 ppg that likely could be substantially higher. And you're right, that's without fully opening the playbook.

I hope the offensive playbook opens up. We haven't seen any RB screens or TE screens that DeBord has run in previous schools. We haven't seen any reverse passes with Taylor throwing the ball. There are so many special plays that haven't been shown yet.

Defensively I think the "vanilla" defense is due to the inexperience of the defense. Coach Allen stated several stunts didn't happen despite being called so there is still a learning curve going on.

And Stevie fumbled away what would likely have been another score at the BSU 5 yard line early in the game. SS had a great game but those giveaways just can't happen in conference play.
