B1G power rankings from 247!

I’m not sure what the point is about our NC schedule. Being tough doesn’t hinder us in finishing high in the conference, rather it helps us get ready for the rigors of conference play. It is especially beneficial being that we are a team with a very high floor (and I agree with the sentiment there).

Illinois as the favorite and some nonsensical arguments to boot? What went wrong here?.....

We have to be able to consistently shoot it well from deep. The blueprint for playing IU will be simple. Pack it in and take Trayce and Race out of it and force Kopp, XJ, Tamar, and Hood to chuck it from the cheap seats. If they can hit we're a legit FF threat. If not we probably lose in the round of 32 and finish 3-5 in the B1G.

I think our highly rated freshmen will play well and the depth that creates will make this season‘s defense even more suffocating, as everyone will stay fresh. Early offense will compensate for 3-pt production.

I actually think he gave us a fair write up. Agree that we have a very high floor, a great front court but agree that “on paper” we did not address last seasons biggest offensive weakness. That being said….if X plays the whole year like he did the end of last season and if one or two of JG,JHS,Bates emerge as a multi-dimensional offensive threat our ceiling will be really high. Looking forward to see who will (hopefully) step up.

U of I wasn't that good before Kofi and won't be very good after Kofi. Underwood just isn't that good a coach. The guys he seems to think will be great two way players can't hold a handle to the guys they lost on offense. Disagree that their portal adds will do as well as this guy seems to think.

Iowa is not just going to plug and play with equal success one Murray for the other. He had two or three really good games and a lot of games where he just sort of disappeared. Maybe he'll be good, but maybe not. Why was Keegan the star instead of Kris? Plus Bohannon is finally gone and with him leadership. Their recruits don't look that impressive and they will still play (I use that term loosely) McCaffery defense.

I mean goofy names get goofy reviews. Mine gets made fun of too. Big deal.
Difference is that nobody gives 2 craps about getting his name correct and why would we? It's cute that he thinks anyone would though. The guy is here because he either can't or won't spend $10/month to gain access to his team's discussion board. I shall now forever refer to him as Fellator of the Night Watchman, or just "fellator" out of convenience.

I was wondering why he would be fighting in the night.

Iowa fans grew tired of Bohannon’s poor defense and fairly one-dimensional game. I appreciate what he provided for the program, but it was obvious any team with him playing heavy minutes had a low ceiling.

Iowa’s recruits are fine. Rivals has both in the Top 150, which is almost 200 spots higher than Keegan Murray was ranked by anyone. Both recruits had a very nice list of offers and Dix would have likely jumped in the rankings if he hadn’t broken his leg during his senior year.

Your questions about Kris Murray are valid. Kris just isn’t as explosive an athlete as Keegan is. I don’t expect Kris to put up the kind of numbers Keegan did because of that. I think Kris will be more along the lines of a 16ppg and 7rpg kind of player.

The 2022-23 Iowa squad won’t need Kris to score 23ppg because Patrick McCaffery, Perkins and Sandfort will be capable scorers as well. Plus, with Bohannon off the roster, the defense should be significantly improved.

The biggest question marks are at PG and center. In each case it’s a question of whether it will be a solid-if-unspectacular veteran or dynamic younger player who will get the bulk of the minutes. Word out of Iowa City is that center Riley Mulvey is expected to take a big step forward in his sophomore season.

I think the second spot is too high for them, but I think a top 4 finish in the league is realistic.

Iowa at #2 seems kind of laughable. We have tons of talent but yes can we shoot the three? If that is a big issue again we likely we probably finish like 4th or 5th in the big ten.

Iowa sucks.

How could you tell if he was poor defensively when the whole team and coach is poor defensively? Are you seriously blaming Bohannan for McNuttball's inability to teach defense?
Iowa ranked higher in defensive efficiency this past season than Indiana ranked in offensive efficiency. Does that mean Mike Woodson has an inability to teach offense?
