Why is this not a bigger story? 17 year old 4.0 student murdered in cold blood by a thug and hardly a peep from the left wing media. I am shocked. And George fentanyl Floyd got countless statues and memorials after he od'd with over 2 dozen felonies. Make it make sense.

what the hell does that even mean? It's clearly in the news and everyone on this thread has condemned it. This is a horrible tragedy and trying to politicize it by falsely (stupidly) claiming it's not being covered does nothing to move any type of needle. It's not like you learned about it first hand or from smoke signals...

I'll give you that it's not as big a story getting as much attention as George Floyd did. It's getting coverage -- but there are degrees of that, clearly.

But a few things...

First, George Floyd died in the process of being brought into custody by police. And, according to the courts, he was killed by the cop deciding to place his knee and body weight on Floyd's neck for an extended period of time.

This was a skirmish between two kids, and did not involve police. It was brutal and tragic, of course. But it didn't involve law enforcement.

Second, the Floyd incident was captured on film and that film went viral. And, because of that, most people who viewed that video (including myself) believed that Chauvin crossed the line of what was necessary to restrain Floyd.

This was not captured on film. And, even if it had been, it sounds like the sort of "heat of the moment" thing that, sadly, happens a lot.

You're attempting to explain something to the "everything is the same" crowd. Differing circumstances, differing people, differing crimes, etc., etc., do not matter to them.

Obviously it is a dreadful crime--should never happen. And of course your logical tautology must always be true--"i don't look at left wing media, ergo I never see the lefties report on this stuff." And yet, it is all over the place. I would expect that it would be on fox news 24/7 for many reasons--it is a terrible incident that shouldn't have happened and of course it takes the spotlight off of Trump's bed shitting tariffs.

Feel free to enact Eric Metcalf statutes. Wouldn't make me the least bit upset. Not sure why you get you old granny punches stuck in your nether regions over George Floyd statutes. Have memorials. I will donate money. You die on every hill. I guaranty you haven't had a solid shit in 14 years.

I agree with you 100 percent on the black community. I just think today of all days DBM is trying to distract. A lot of pedophiles are white heterosexual males. Think DBM would highlight that? He always has an agenda.

My wife and I started as Catholic. Somewhere between the 3rd and 4th billion of settlement with abuse victims we said enough and left the church.

My point? There is a lot of horrible crap in this world. Record number of pets available around me for adoption because people suck. I just hate when people only post items that fit their narrative.

When we lived in STL, it felt completely racially divided. This was well before the riots. There’s just a tense feeling being in that city of a lack of integration. This is my experience coming from living in Indianapolis all my life.

From what I know there’s a long history of racial divide. My wife who at the time was training at Barnes Jewish reported stories that for many years African Americans weren’t treated in the hospital and had to find care elsewhere. There’s still a great mistrust between black patients and there care givers given that history.

While I love the food and sports teams in the STL. I was very ready for our move to another conservative city, Cincinnati. Thankfully we finally made it back home.

In grad school it’s why I focused on urban planning in our public policy and admin program. We spend about a week a quarter at children’s and my friend is an er Dr at Barnes. Cops always in the er. Shootings. Violent assaults. Yep blacks had their own hospital. Homer g Phillips.

It’s a city that’s unique. A slave city. Dred Scott was decided here. It’s also one of only two major cities without a county. 4th largest city during 04 world’s fair.

But the city never annexed Clayton, Webster, Kirkwood, Frontenac, ladue, town and country and the 90 munis so that money escaped. You just had the cwe, parts of tower grove, and Stl hills with a little money. Then decades of bad bad governance and crime increases education quality decreases and suburban flight kicks in. That’s why during the blm riots seeing protests through the private streets of the cwe was so frustrating. You’re Fing with the only people left in the city with money. They’re just going to say f this and take their money to chesterfield

You’re perceptive and agree. It’s why I’m a little hyper about the woke shit and defund and bail projects etc. I know a lot about the cops. The courts. The issues with a city of our composition and political bent.

People here, the natives, are fiercely proud of Stl. It’s very incestuous. They shouldn’t be. It’s not a good place

That’s about the best explanation I’ve ever received on why St. Louis was the way I experienced it. I couldn’t wait to get out of there. It was obvious African-Americans had had no interest in talking or being friends with me. But the same could be said of the Caucasians I worked with. It was frustrating because having lived in Indianapolis I never felt that way I was always friends with African-Americans and vice versa.

It’s also why the first question you’re asked is where did you go to high school. No one cares if you went to duke or anywhere else for college. It’s high school. And if you say I’m from Indianapolis oh fck off. That’s worse than going to bayless high.

I will say that home prices have gotten so insane in Webster/kirkwood clayton/ladue that people are being forced to move to the city. The hill is really taking off. So hampton. Other areas too.

I will add that I spent a summer in San Fran, a summer in Chicago, and have lived in Indiana, Ohio, Carolina, and Florida and never experienced what you wrote anywhere other than Stl

My cousins live out in Chesterfield, I guess there's a good reason why. It essentially felt like Carmel. I'll end this conversation with a link to a disturbing piece of history most outside of St. Louis don't know about, the 1917 East St. Louis Race riots. It probably explains a lot of the animosity between blacks and whites in St. Louis. Forgive, but never forget, but in this city maybe there was never any forgiveness.
