Question - was the game sold out last night? It appeared on TV there were some open seats in the corners of the lower sections. I didn’t see any shots of the balcony. I will say it sounded on tv like the fans were into it with a lot of support.
Couple observations.
Very good win by IU. Proud of how they competed. They have come a long way since last year. Still have plenty of work to do. We need RP to get healthy and back on the court.
I was thrilled for Damezi Anderson when he hit the big three. Not only for obvious reasons that it helped IU. But this was the biggest shot of his IU career. I thought he was as as good defensively as I have seen him all year. I hope he continues to contribute.
Justin Smith had a questionable drive going to his left in the lane that did not look good and didn’t end up well. He had an opportunity to drive the ball in a similar fashion several possessions later and pulled the ball back out. I thought it showed considerable maturity and growth in his game. JS has limitations for sure but he is doing a good job for the most part playing within himself. Good for Justin and I appreciate what he brings to the table.
Devonte hit some big shots and appears to be our go to guy on the perimeter. He has come a long way in 4 years.
I wanted to see TJD against a quality opponent. He controlled the paint and was a problem for FSU all night. He already is pretty darn good but he has a lot more upside that I hope we get to see him fulfill while he is in the cream and crimson.
