Obviously Bruce was not writing about Trump, per se.Nebraska was released in 1982,and Trump didn't become a fixture in AC's world of casino gambling for another 8 yrs or so.

However during 1982, Trump did buy the property that would eventually become Trump Plaza from Sal Testa, the son of Phil (Chicken Man) Testa whose death Springsteen immortalized in the song. And in yet another "savy" Trump business deal, the Donald paid over a $ 1 Billion for a property that Testa originally purchased for around $150,000 (Winning!!)

That's just a little background intro into this remarkable twitter series from (Vice Editor) Gabrielle Bluestone, which I'm embarrassed to admit I just now discovered. She basically took the lyrics to AC,and used them to illustrate the story of the Trump Admin, from lows to lower... Begins with the Manafort indictment substituting for Testa's murder in the original opening line...Really well done...

I think Trump regularly over-pays not because he is dumb.

He gets his money from suspect 'investors' who need to over-pay (think: Tide detergent) and with their over-paid asset will, it will enable them to get loans from main street banks, failing that there is always Deutche. Plus Trump will get a higher commission on more expensive deals.
