Indyhorn, pretty much agree.Recall the Tea Party movement, then realize that republicans took the vast majority of state legislatures and then Gerrymandered their states district to make seats safe in the general election- the only way to lose an election is to have a candidate call you RINO and outflank you on the right in the primary- that’s why team elephant is now extreme in main body.
Just want to add the icing on the cake. The icing being Donald Trump in the White House. This gave the movement a national and world leader who didn't play by the conventional rules, He led by not kowtowing to Congress and placed his administration above the bureaucracies which he referred to as the swamp. Trump instead demanded political loyalty to him from key bureaucrats. Trump called this giving power back to the people.
Think of this as having the Oval Office being a tower high above the swamp with the swamp cut off from a country run by state governments.
With Trump in the tower, the country's patriots finally saw their movement to restore American exceptionalism becoming a reality.
