It's surprising that we don't use the blacklist function more - I as much as looked at GBI and got a blacklisting.

I'm one of those horrible OSU fans you are all talking about. I can understand the need for other fan bases to villainize Ohio State and anything associated with the Buckeyes. I guess it goes with the territory so I'm ok with it.

Anyway, it could be a very interesting game. The Hoosiers have played well against the Bucks several times recently and the Indiana offense has looked good. OSU's offense has been inconsistent as of late so anything is possible.

If the Buckeyes win I won't come back to gloat, but if the Hoosiers pull of the upset then I'll Definately come back to give your team credit. Hopefully there are no major injuries for either team tomorrow and good luck the rest of the season.

I don't villainize O$U; in fact, I have a good deal of respect and some admiration for how Meyer goes about his business.

It's the O$U fans I generally can't stand. Goes back over 30 years, when I had an O$U undergraduate and veterinarian grad as a client; I fired him as a client because he was such an insufferable boor about football. Every where I run into O$U fans there's very little to merit their presence, at least when it comes to discussing football.

If you do come back to the board and show the respect/goodwill you suggest, I suspect you'll get good responses - for the most part. If you do, welcome.
 
They are loudmouth blowhards, that did not even go to school there, just happen to reside in the state.

Not sure why some on here consider this a bad thing. Doesn't every school want a huge following/fan base for ticket sales and large TV markets like OSU ? What am I missing ?

Hardly a victim complex. Its easier for certain fan bases to come up with excuses than to admit to the realities of their favorite team. It's easier to villainize an opposing fan base than admit that you are jealous.

It's the same reason people hate the Yankees, Lakers, and Cowboys. However, since college sports fans tend to associate with their favorite teams even more than professional sports fans do, the attacks become more personal.

So good-luck tomorrow, and I appreciate your hatred. Because no one bothers to hate teams that don't win.

As someone else said...blissfully unaware. There are lots of teams that win whose fan bases no one has a problem with but there is no fan base as universally hated as Ohio State fans. Not Ohio State. Ohio State fans. There's a reason for that and it's not because your football team wins. It's because OSU fans are, collectively, a bunch of jerks.

True. Fans of another team can even root for another team to win. The hatred goes up though the more another team wins. It goes up even more if that team beats your team.

There are OSU fans who are jerks. I'm sure that there are Indiana fans who are jerks. But it fits better into your narrative by demonizing the entire fan base to feel better about yourself.

I saw that the Hoosiers have been very proficient in forcing turnovers this season. That's been a big issue for the Buckeyes going back to the playoff run and this season as well. That seems to be an advantage for Indiana tomorrow.

Well Mr. Moderator, I nor any other OSU fan, started a thread saying OSU fans are superior. Rather there have been at least two threads by Indiana fans insulting and degrading OSU fans. I haven't said anything to degrade Hooiser fans and have been very complimentary of your football team.

So in your accusation of me lacking self awareness, are you also countering my statement that fans tend to dislike fans of other winning programs? Are you saying that there is no bias against the traditional powerhouse teams at every level?

This is an IU message board - what would you expect. Rather than whining about how butt-hurt you are, why not just leave the discussions and go back to a friendly forum. Your "insights" are neither needed nor appreciated here. You aren't going to change anyone's opinion regarding the arrogance and obnoxious behavior of Buckeye fans. If you don't come here to post or view, you won't have to be victimized.

This isn't neutral, objective territory. It's a fan forum, for fans of our team, just as those sights dedicated to O$U are. Just stay away, or if you choose not to, accept how you are likely to be treated here. Get a clue.

If IU wins and you do come back, which I doubt very much you will, it will be a first for an o$u fan. In over 30 years I have yet to have any o$u fan EVER acknowledge defeat. I have NEVER heard them say they lost. There is always an excuse i.e long layoff before bowl game, injury, or the best one is "never saw them look like that". Not once have I ever heard them say the other team was just better than them or that they played a great game. It is just sad. Initially I thought it was just a few fans, but no.

Yes, this is an Indiana message board, key words being message board. You know someone starts a post, then others comment on it either agreeing or disagreeing. If you are eating I shouldn't be here because I have a different opinion, then what you are looking for is an Indiana Echo Chamber. I didn't see that as an option.

I do understand that I am a guest on this board, which is why I'm only responding to posts that you guys initiate and am not saying derogatory about your team or making personal attacks on your posters.

Finally, yes, if OSU loses today- which they very well could, I will come back to congratulate your team I did last year against Virginia Tech. Now there can be reasons why OSU loses which is different than excuses. In the breakdown of the game later I might mention those. It's also possible for a better team to be outplayed by a lesser team. It doesn't change that regardless of who is better or more talented, if the Hooisers win today, it was because they were the better team on this day.

Believe me, I understand that this is an Indiana board. That's why I visit, to get the other team's perspective of the game. If the discussion is about football, I talk about how I think Indiana can beat the Buckeyes, but may also talk about areas that I think that OSU may have advantages. If you want to go on a message board without visiting fan bases, she'll out the money and get on the Premium Board.

I know I won't change anyone's opinion about the Buckeye fans, and I don't deny that there are obnoxious ones out there. Like any fan base however, that's the minority. The reason that you hate them so much has more to do with their dominance.

For what it's worth, I call out Buckeye fans who say the same things about SEC/Alabama fans that you do about us. Do you know when the Buckeye fans stopped caring about the Alabama fans? After the playoff game. In the 90's the Buckeye message board uses to be full of threads about Michigan fans. That hasn't been the case most of the past 15 years. And I would be willing to bet than on your basketball message boards there is much more about Kentucky and Louisville fans than there are about Buckeye fans.

You guys really are oblivious. It's years and years of boorish behavior. Much more than the usual idiots in any fan base. Seriously, ask any other group of fans. That's why you see threads like this here. You have earned your reputation.
 
I used to work with a friend from Wapakoneta who is a big OSU fan. I told him once that OSU fans are not highly regarded among other team's fans. He said that he couldn't defend Buckeyes fans, especially those who show up for the games in hunting gear. I'm sure he would be a respectful fan, but he knows what some of them are like.
 
Typical posts of the OSU fan haters are as follows: One time I saw this guy in an OSU shirt... I know someone who knew someone who heard that... I knew this gut at work who was a jerk and an OSU fan... Then you extrapolate it to the entire fan base. Mainly for the reason's I've already mentioned.

I'm not disagreeing that most people who come on other message boards do it strictly to flame, but again that's a minority.

As far as visiting OSU fans who vandalize opposing stadiums? I've taken a few road trips to visit other stadiums. The majority of visiting OSU fans aren't students, aren't non-alumni who treat the Buckeyes as a pro team-'the majority are alumni who's average age is 50-60. Hardly the barbarian horde that you make them out to be.

On the Ohio State boards this week, most Buckeye fans are expecting a close game.
