Obviously the app for both iOS and Android has had major issues that past month or two. Basically Rivals is changing the site so much this year (see new message boards) that our developer can't keep up. We're looking at a couple options. One being dumbing down the app to make it work, probably via pointing you straight to the site, or just pushing more and more people to creating an app like experience by learning how to add a shortcut icon to your phone or table front page that sends you straight to the mobile site.
In regards to the latter, here's a quick tutorial for iPhone and Android users that one of our other sites came up with recently:
Here's a tip: Create an icon to the mobile site on your home screen! This will give you easy access to the site by launching the way that an app would.
Here is how to do it on the iPhone:
First, visit the mobile site through Safari: http://wireless.rivals.com(I usually find the team link and insert the full URL for them)
1. Tap the action button on the bottom (it is the square with the arrow pointing up)
2. On the popup menu, touch the “Add to Home Screen” option.
3. Change the name to suit you. Don’t choose a name that’s too long because it needs to fit under a standard icon. Touch the Add button when you’re ready.
4. When you return to the home screen, it will now show the new icon.
Here's how to do the same thing on Android:
Step one: Open the browser on your Android smartphone or tablet and go to http://wireless.rivals.com(I usually find the team link and insert the full URL for them)
Step two: Hit the settings button – it’s three vertical dots, locating in the top right of the screen – from here press the start symbol.
Step three: Pressing the star symbol will bring you into the bookmarks menu. From here you can edit the web page’s name and select which bookmarks folder you want to save it into.
Step four: From here go back to the Browser settings menu, and then open the Bookmarks folder. From here locate your newly created bookmark and press and hold your finger on the bookmark you want to place on your home screen. Once you’ve done this you will see a new menu appear and in the list will be an option Add to Home screen. Press this option.
That’s it! All you need to do know is move the bookmark to where you want it on your home screen. This can be done by pressing + holding + dragging the your new bookmark icon.
