It's very likely a win puts us in next week. We're #2 in honorable mention in both thr AP and the Coaches.
IU burned too much good will following the 2020 season and following with three losing seasons. Voters need more evidence that Cignetti has changed IU's fortunes, we see the evidence in the games but voters don't have that luxury.
No, it just shows the polls are meaningless. Even late in the season. Those guys don''t watch all the teams or pay attention to what's happening. Wanting evidence of changing fortunes just shows they are a joke. It's not 126 years, it's this year.
ND should not be ranked. Northern Illinois lost to another MAC team. That loss looks worse.
I am glad we are not yet ranked. Hopefully makes us hungry for a Maryland win. 5-0 should do it. Especially if we can do another big win.
I don't read too much into our not being ranked this week. Most of the teams ranked #15-25 won yesterday (or lost to somebody ranked in the top fifteen. Tough for voters to drop someone from their list until those teams lose a game they shouldn't. We will be ranked soon if we keep winning. While I agree completely with the way our OOC schedule was structured this season, it hasn't convinced any doubters yet. UCLA's struggles havent done much to help our case. Scheduling W. Ill is/was not optimal or helpful, but the decision to drop Louisville so late didn't leave a lot of options. And with so much unknown about what Indiana football would look like this year, an OOC game against Louisville was not conducive to making a bowl. To me, being bowl eligible needed to be the singular focus for IU football this season. Ranking and stronger scheduling are great goals moving forward, but having a winning season record is more important than anything else for now.
