Anyone watching the Michigan, Purdue game?

This is exactly why coaches will be hesitant to go there - if they don’t get to the Final Four in year one the fan base will point to the football program making the playoff in year one.
Nonsense. Nobody expected Cig to make the playoffs. We would have been happy with a bowl game. He wildly exceeded expectations.

You can say that about any coach that goes to any program worth a damn. OSU fans were talking about firing Day this year.
Nah your fans are a special breed due to the ancient success - you feel like you should always be in the Final Four when so many programs have improved and moved forward. It’s not that easy.

IU has tradition and a lot of people that care about the program. However, the most important piece is the coach. If you don't have the right coach, you don't have anything. Bob Knight didn't go to a Final Four every year. IU fans expect to be consistently good and a contender.

Fans on here mention some great coaches to come in and the fan base says nah he’s not good enough. Knight spoiled you and now you are craving that high again - I totally get it but as Bob Dylan said “the times they are a changing”

That is kind of like saying PU football shouldn't be chasing after Tiller results. I'm guessing your fellow fans would disagree with that, as well as the admin that canned Walters after 2 years.

I don’t think Purdue fans really care about football honestly - had some good years with hall of fame QBs but it’s clearly secondary

Saratoga, you couldn't be more wrong about football as every game last season was a sellout or close to one. Season ticket sells (42,000) were the highest since 2007.

But I also don’t live there - if I did I’m sure I would go but when football is on I’m not watching it much from here in NY

Purdue is having fun(winning), did you listen to that crowd, how many sellouts have they had in a row? IU has not sold out a full year since the 2013 season! It’s getting to be like going to Assy Hall or going to visit the local antique shop, which one is better? The Antique shop is better, at least when buy something there you get value in it, unlike IU basketball where they throw money at stars and old coaches and get farther and farther from their history that they FIRED! Money follows accomplishments not HYPE and HOPE! Painter has a lot of talent and you can see his players getting better and better, and having fun! Painter will have 10 more years of success! IU needs to find a coach like Painter, but that won't happen, because their fans are looking for a name, a quick fix, they would rather buy it, not earn it!
TAH has been sold out since the seventies PUkeboi. Still a waiting list for season tickets even now.

Mackey is no where close

Purdue has always had a deeper relationship with FB than IU.

That comes from having more frequent periods of moderate success combined with a much less attractive tailgate and campus option.

IU’s losing has created a thriving talegate and fall campus weekend environment.

I am not convinced the place gets packed even for an 8-9 win season (which is what I think we are built for now) The social event culture is deep in Btown.
