Congrats on finally beating the crap out of Purdue in football. Only took their worst year in history. Glad iu is able to brag about being .500 vs Purdue. IU basketball's ceiling is far, far higher than PU football or basketball. Mike Davis made the finals in year 2: it only took Painter about 25 years and multiple embarrassing losses to double digit seeds. If IU can make the right hire for football and turn things around immediately, they can certainly do the same thing for basketball.

Thank you! The football series has been pretty even as of late. IU was a missed field goal away from setting the largest victory margin in the series. Making the playoffs and winning more games than PU ever has made for a great season.

I think you may underestimate how difficult the current landscape is. North Carolina and Kentucky are among teams that have missed the tournament (maybe more than once) in recent years.
It is even easier to do well quicker due to the portal and NIL. IU football turned it around in 1 year with a roster 6-7 times the size. There flat out is no excuse for IU basketball to not be good. Go make a good hire.
This is exactly why coaches will be hesitant to go there - if they don’t get to the Final Four in year one the fan base will point to the football program making the playoff in year one.
If you were marginally cognizant you would realize that the game shortly following a West Coast trip has proven to be a game ripe for an upset. That is true for a couple of B1G teams, not just Purdue. You make jump shots with your legs, and fatigue destroys shooting. There is reason shooting declined in the later part of the OSU game.
It has been pointed out earlier in this very thread on this board that quite a few highly-regarded coaches, including RMK, did exactly what you criticize Painter for. It maybe an IU board, but that is not an excuse for ignorance or intentional disregard of fact.

Painter has had 3 losing seasons since Painter took over. The last
Painter has had 3 losing seasons. His first in 05-06, and 12-13, 13-14. But, he hasn’t been special in March with the exception of last year.
You can say that about any coach that goes to any program worth a damn. OSU fans were talking about firing Day this year. You guys fired a football coach after 2 years.
