Anybody want to explain/defend this?

From the headline, it looks like Trump and Vance are angry with Denmark for allowing Russia and China to "make use" of Greenland? What use?

Sometimes the easiest explanation is the correct one.
I’ve had occasions to get to know a number of long-time well-situated aristocrats from the UK. Basically boils down to variations on two types, which may hold for all affluent people, including hillbillies: arrogant and magnanimous.

JD feigns one, is the other.

Can't defend, but it's easy to explain: JDV has been sent out to put an articulate-sounding, "reasonable" spin on one of Trump's bat shit crazy schemes. Like COH, he's trying to baffle us with bullshit.
Nitpick: Agent Orange is conjuring up self-aggrandizing alternative realities whereas COH is “testing” our ability to see through his sophistry. 😉

Greenland is what 60K people? And they have ability to determine their own fate via referendum?

I’m not sure 60K Inuits are ready to have the full weight of an American political campaign brought to bear on them. Along with the associated millions of dollars, multi-media barrage and pie in the sky promises that come with it.

Seems we might have a real shot of swaying public opinion.

Cool.

Hey everyone, see this thing we did to make our politics as awful as humanly possibly short of The Purges, well I've got a great idea. Let's export it!

Maybe you're right. Who knows?

If we're trying to sway public opinion in Greenland, it would seem Vance has started us off on the wrong foot.

I mean, isn't he at least smart enough to know you don't throw bulletin board shit out there before the big game?
I honestly have no idea, but I'd guess Vance hasn't ever played in a 'big game.' He also doesn't strike me as the type of guy who even likes sports, outside of when it's politically advantageous. I think I remember him saying something about an Ohio State football win when he was a senator, but that had 'one of my staffers told me this would make me sound cool' written all over it.

He went to OSU. Talked about how he wished Inauguration Day was a different day so he could watch the National Championship.

Why would he not be an OSU fan?
