Not sure. I think he's very committed to the IUBB program as a whole, so if he liked the next coach I think he would be up for it.

Probably depends on how big of a fight he puts up. Assuming he doesn't get a waiver, Goode will have finished his career playing 3 1/3 seasons. In a climate where guys are getting 5th and 6th years like candy, Goode has a legitimate argument if he fights it hard enough.
I’m not arguing whether or not Leal is a good player, but I’d like to see the win/loss numbers from games where he plays over 20-25 minutes, not necessarily starting. Might be the same as the totals from his starts, but still curious.5-6 when he starts and 13-5 when he does not.
Atleast have some idea of the stats before you post dumb shit.
He's been this type of player since middle high school, on. Its why he won Mr Basketball. Its why he had multiple high major offers.
He should have been a main rotation guy since early in his career.
Why do you think he is so timid on shooting. He passes up open looks. Is he not confident, is he being told it's not his job to score, or am I just not seeing what I think I'm seeing.
Part of it is because he's never really been a knock down perimeter shooter. He obviously took, and made a decent amount in high school, but he was a much more all around player, than a shooter. He's never been a guy that shoots a lot of perimeter shots off the dribble either. And in Woodson's system, if you're not confident taking shots off ball screen actions, it limits your looks dramatically.
I think if he were playing in a system that produced more kick out catch and shoot shots, he'd take more of them.
I also do think he's smart enough to know he's not a knock down shooter, so keeping the ball moving, and finding his shots in other ways is what's best for him, and for the team.
He also does lots of things off the ball too. He is a player that I will watch off the ball, and he is always screening/making things happen for others.
Leal was a knock down perimeter shooter during his junior year in high school, making 66 three point shots, with a 51% average. He's been getting worse ever since.
He's an efficient basketball player. He also grew physically around that time, and turned himself in to much better all around player. Its one of the big reasons South went 26-0 his senior year. He's a good athlete, a good overall basketball player...if he were in an offense that created 3-4 good, open, kickout looks per game for him...I'm sure he'd hit 40+ percent of them.
Then why doesn't he shoot FTs better. Isn't he down around 64% for the season? I never buy a guy as a good FT shooter if he's not hitting 80% there.
He's never consistently been a great shooter. I didn't know that junior year of high school stat, that surprises me if its true, to be honest. I think people put a stereotype on him because he looks white, was from Bloomington, and he won Mr Basketball...and because he plays smart, and isn't a blindingly fast or bouncy athlete. Ironically, Trey his the same way. I was surprised when both were recruited. Both are all around stat stuffer players. In high school they were more likely to push for triple doubles, than they were to score 30 points.
Having said all that...his FT shooting is surprisingly bad. He should be the type of guy that can will himself to being a better FT shooter than he has been this year.

I'm not an Anthony Leal historian...but I do know enough that his game really changed and evolved during his high school years. Namely because he grew physically a fair bit. He became an all around stud his last couple years.

• 25+: 6-3
• Less than 24: 6-8 (including six with 5 or fewer min)
It gets more interesting when you dig into the numbers ...
In IU's three losses with Leal playing 25+ minutes, the average loss margin was 5.6 points. (Average KenPom ranking of opponent: 17.)
In the 8 losses w/ Leal at less than 24 minutes, average loss margin was 14 points. (Avg ranking: 23.)
It's fair to wonder if more Leal minutes could have turned the close Oregon, UCLA, or Maryland losses into wins. It's also fair to wonder if regular minutes against LOU, Gonzaga, NEB, ILL, or WIS could have kept those losses closer and improved IU's metrics.

Number to back up what the obvious eye test said.
He shut Thornton down Saturday…probably the single biggest key to our victory. Just like he shut Shelstead down before the bomb shot.
When you start focusing on what he is… and how that helps the team…and how it would help most teams… it makes what he is not a fair bit less worrisome.
Had Woodson stuck with Tucker over Leal it is possible he would have been fired twice in February. In all seriousness, basketball IQ can trump athleticism in a lot of scenarios. Does it limit their ceiling. In this instance, I am not sure. Tucker has a ways to go to be a player in my opinion. His mechanics don't translate to being more than a mid range shooter. Defensively he has length but no awareness. It is possible he gets there w proper development. He clearly has a lot of tools.
