You really think McNeeley, Haralson or Mullins were money hunting?Money hunting. IMHO

Exactly. Everyone under achieves under woody. I mean K9 Rice and Tucker aren’t all shit. Neither is Mack and Tamar. We get great talent and have a 90 year old grandpa telling them to play 80s nba style.Wasted year here, seemingly without any development. Mgbako has 2 of them now. Not hard to see why any guard or wing would steer clear.
No. I think Tucker was. Saw his opportunity and IU was willing to overpay to correct the recruiting failures. You really think McNeeley, Haralson or Mullins were money hunting?
This is true but both can be true. We overpaid for this roster. If the numbers are true.Exactly. Everyone under achieves under woody. I mean K9 Rice and Tucker aren’t all shit. Neither is Mack and Tamar. We get great talent and have a 90 year old grandpa telling them to play 80s nba style.
Fair enough. I think being 10-minutes glue guy is exactly the role Leal was projected to play going into the season. Alas…No argument. I am mad at woody that we have to play him. That turned into me hating him I guess. I just realize what he is. A glue guy that MAYBE plays 5-10 mins for a good team. More likely 1-2.
Oh I’m sure of it because again, dipshit is picking them. I am sure most were over ranked, but good coaches could do good with any of these guys. Just have to you know, coach them. This is true but both can be true. We overpaid for this roster. If the numbers are true.
Yeah, I don't think I can disagree with you there.No. I think Tucker was. Saw his opportunity and IU was willing to overpay to correct the recruiting failures.
And I’d love that. Come in take a charge, get a steal pump up the crowd. If he is playing 34 mins a game that team is not a contender. Period.Fair enough. I think being 10-minutes glue guy is exactly the role Leal was projected to play going into the season. Alas…
This team is far from a contender. And I’d love that. Come in take a charge, get a steal pump up the crowd. If he is playing 34 mins a game that team is not a contender. Period.
Now we are talking some facts. This team is far from a contender.
And while I don’t disagree that Leal playing 34 minutes would never happen on a team that is a contender. It’s the best option we have at this point. Now we are talking some facts.
And I hate that. And while I don’t disagree that Leal playing 34 minutes would never happen on a team that is a contender. It’s the best option we have at this point.
He didn’t show up in the box score! While size and skill are crucial, I hope our next coach also prioritizes heart, basketball IQ, and relentless effort.
Hopefully Cav doesn't ban me for this post.
Nope it’s woodys but that doesn’t mean I can’t complain about itI do too, but it’s not Leal’s fault.
I’ll make one of his airballs, getting burned, and getting his shot blocked for ya. Don’t tempt me, my highlight videos put that shit to shame.
Bro it is a crime that Leal has to coach our defense because coach can’t. I’m not arguing, it’s just embarrassing that a final 4 caliber team is where we are in march. Please do. And I'll put one together with audio so you can hear him direct the defense. Basketball isn't all about offense. Defense is just as important but not as flashy.
My son played at South with Leal. He believes Leal is coaching the defense. Against MSU (I think) he noticed the zone used was one that Coach Coyle has modified for South to use. My son told me modification but I can't recall at this moment.
It’s called leadership.. Leal is been here what 5 years?Bro it is a crime that Leal has to coach our defense because coach can’t. I’m not arguing, it’s just embarrassing that a final 4 caliber team is where we are in march.
No1 on earth will convince me Bruce pearl or Rick Pitino wouldn’t have this team as a top 15 team in the country. This is more talent then woody has ever had, he wasn’t lying about that preseason.

Good coach hunting. You really think McNeeley, Haralson or Mullins were money hunting?
Nah… Leal is the 2025 version of Brian Sloan. A player that players overlook but coaches know how important he is.Well he probably puts them in better position than woody. No argument here. Man my point is Leal doesn’t play for good teams. Show me the Leal in the SEC. When we play that caliber of team he will cost us. Watch.

It's the hottest team in the country. Don't be surprised if Woodson makes a deep tourney run and unretiresThis team is far from a contender.
Just not Bigfoot ... until it was too late.A player that players overlook but coaches know how important he is.
His leadership and attitude are his best attributes but he will be overmatched against most teams. If want to be a top team though he wouldn't see the floor. He is zero threat offensively and can't have your 2 guard not be a threat and win big IMO. Guard play is generally what wins in the tournament and ours is very inconsistent - every one of our guards has at one point or another shot airballs - Leal, Galloway, Rice and Carlyle - and when they miss, they miss ugly.Well he probably puts them in better position than woody. he did in the one I looked at: 4 rebs, 3 steals, 2 blocks and 4 assists. The game is more than scoring. On Assembly Call, 2 of the 3 guys voted for Leal as Hustle Player of the game, over Goode, who scored very well.He didn’t show up in the box score!

You just going to conveniently leave out wins at Michigan State and Purdue where Leal started and played 29 and 34 minutes collectively? When did Leal really start getting minutes? The game at Ohio state? We are 5-6 since then with 2 recent wins over Penn State and Washington. I understand the feeling of us being better with him on the court but does our record back that up? Or is it an illusion?

Goode might be our best player. Should play 35-40 minseveryone on our team has shot airballs.
goode's recovery from early season shooting woes to his run from January 2nd on is very impressive.
I see effort as contagious. I hope Mgbako catches the disease especially on defense. It's really pretty simple. Are we playing better and winning when he's played more, despite the getting burned, airballs, etc...? There's absolutely no doubt in my mind we're playing better largely because of Leal's play and his effort on D. I think the biggest thing he brings is communication and talking. He gets guys to be more aware of where the ball is and what their help responsibility is. It's outweighing his limitations and poor play. How you respond to mistakes is often what determines wins and losses and he's playing hard regardless of what happens and it's helping immensely.
Love his effort and heart but IU but IU will never be relevant again if we’re playing a kid like Leal significant minutes. While size and skill are crucial, I hope our next coach also prioritizes heart, basketball IQ, and relentless effort.
Hopefully Cav doesn't ban me for this post.
It’s not being mean. Just the facts.Love his effort and heart but IU but IU will never be relevant again if we’re playing a kid like Leal significant minutes.
That's not even remotely true. Who he's surrounded with, and the coach that's directing it all, dictates that as much as Leal and his 1 spot on the floor. Put Leal in Auburn's starting lineup, or Dukes, and they're not dropping out of the top 10 or anything like that. Obviously he wouldn't make them better. It would hurt them. But he's not the chump that Cav has constantly made him out to be.Love his effort and heart but IU but IU will never be relevant again if we’re playing a kid like Leal significant minutes.
I really hope he gets his medical redshirt. I'm seeing plenty of others out there getting theirs, Oregon has 2 guys that just got theirs. What's Goode's case look like? I haven't paid close enough attention.Goode might be our best player. Should play 35-40 mins
Hope they're wrong, but folks don't seem optimistic. I'd love to have him back.I really hope he gets his medical redshirt. I'm seeing plenty of others out there getting theirs, Oregon has 2 guys that just got theirs. What's Goode's case look like? I haven't paid close enough attention.
Yeah... I kind of get that sentiment, and it'll be too bad. Maybe he wouldn't want to go through another coaching change though??Hope they're wrong, but folks don't seem optimistic. I'd love to have him back.
