Announcement in next 24 hours?

For anyone with strong opinions on the subject......wouldn't Trilly's credibility concerning an IU search be less than Osterman's?
Trilly sourcing BTB isn't really worth getting excited about. Both sources are often all over the board on their recruit and coaching predictions.

Lots of big donors insist it is. That's the word anyway.
If that is the case Dolson never had had any big fish lined up at any time. He probably could have gotten May last year but no way he was getting him now. And Stevens LOL that was just guys trolling because they enjoy getting people to fall for nonsense.

He will have a helluva lot less NIL money to dole out, than Woodson did last year. but would have to be an upgrade as a coach.
He'll have whatever he needs. How much we spend will be determined by the level of players he wants AND can get in on landing. If he gets in on 7 elite, top level guys that he thinks fit his program, he'll get the money to sign all of them.

We should get Fran McCaffrey. Hell, if we're going to go 19-14 every year we might as well do it losing - or winning - 104-98.

Yep, somehow you'd have to get commitments on NIL deals before hiring a coach. I can't imagine the folks who bankrolled last year's NIL were happy with results this year and I'd think many of them would be asked to pony up again to replace Woodson.

I've read a few articles that mention a school's NIL capacity as one of their primary decision making factors for potential COACHES, not just players. So yes, I would think no matter who Dolson is talking to/recruiting, to be our coach, the NIL commitments and capacity was an important part of the discussion. And I'm sure he met a handful of key people, and whoever he is, knows that he'll get whatever he needs.

NIL is something that has to be renewed every year regardless. If donors were onboard last year, they'd have no reason to expect the demand for funding to drop off this year.

Everything I've read is that rev share is what matters now and if the school has a plan in place for doling it out. Supposedly the clearinghouse will tighten up some of NIL craziness.

Yea. We'll see what they can do, I sort of think it won't be much. If the Clearinghouse tells some kid, who may not be well off, he cannot get $2M NIL offered, but only $500K per some accounting firm's valuation, the school, player, and probably state legislatures will detonate on the Clearinghouse with lawsuits/laws.

IUBB is planning to have 2x the B1G average for rev share. Interesting. I'm glad Cig appears publicly happy with the support he's got, and he probably has to give IU a little bit of a break after that new big contract.

Yea, just listen to people like Thamel and Osterman who actually know how to report things with accuracy.

We've heard various things about the new hire or hire to be, including:

--'Signed contract', which would almost have to be someone not presently coaching in college, But what about a Stevens or a Donovan who are also under contract? This is such a limiting criteria that I can't believe it's correct. But if it is....someone like Beilien or Wright, or an NBA asst coach?

--'Done deal', which I would interpret as a verbal agreement only; Could mean just about anybody, but it does imply actually terms discussed, so to me it excludes guys like McCollum or DeVries.

--"Big Fish"; There are several of those....Stevens; Donovan; Pearl; Pitino; Few; Drew: Beard; Wright; Self; Bennett. I don't think people would think of Lloyd as a 'big fish', for example;

--"Out of Left Field"--Lots of those as well, but I interpret this as more of a type of candidate v. an actual name....Like a current NBA coach or asst coach; a D2 coach like McCollum, a current coach at a high level program (Self; Lloyd, Gard, Hurley, Drew, Few, Cronin); a bad boy (Beard; Wade; Pearl), Pitino); and

--Comfortable with the portal"--Seems to imply a current college coach, or at least to rule out those nor comfortable with NIL/ the Portal (Alford; Bennett), but maybe someone like Wright/Stevens would be ok if he could have someone else get into the mud, like a college GM.

To me, basically ignoring the "signed contract" criteria, it still looks like Stevens, Donovan, Few, Drew, Wright, and Cronin best meet the criteria.

Now....if the 'done deal' part was wishful thinking it could be anyone...............in that regard, what happened to Otzlinger?? He seems to have disappeared from the discussion.

Brad Stevens is trending on twitter right now . Two hiring cycles in a a row the so called insiders " aka trolls" have gotten a good amount of people to believe in the fairytale. Now I can see why people believe in bigfoot.

Some comedian has his catch phrase “you can’t fix stupid”.

Per Trilly via BTB, he expects an announcement for our coaching hire within the next 24 hours.

Do I believe this speculation? Not totally. Do I enjoy this speculation? Absolutely.
You people are funny.

Trilly saying new HC will be DeVries from WVU.
Just as I expected because there is nobody else not currently coaching we were going to get. I think a better hire than woodson but only time will tell if he can be better thana average and actually lead us deep into the tournament. And one red flag is why is he leaving a school after only one year? Hope its not a pattern moving forward.
