I still do not even understand how NIL works you are supposed to be paid for certain endorsments and appearances yet they get some massive lump some payment it seems. So to me that is just buying a player not giving them money for any sort of appearance. If it was the money would be paid later as the event takes place.
Everyone is attacking it differently. I can't think of any way that the numbers people mention are actually accurate. Just educated guesses based on what schools and players report.
I'm not sure Rev Share has kicked in yet? When it does, that money will come directly from the school, and will be "pay to play".
NIL collectives money, also is a "pay to play", that's basically using NIL laws as a "front".
And then there are still actual NIL (name, image, and likeness), endorsement type money streams as well.
And there are also other deals and agreements happening like agreements for future employment, agreements for money amounts that extend well beyond playing days, etc...
Tracking rev share accurately, will probably be fairly easy. NIL collective agreements and payouts are a little more difficult, but still manageable to get a decent number. True NIL...that one is where it gets pretty difficult. I'm sure it all has to be documented and accounted for, so the NCAA can make themselves feel useless...I mean useful. Just not sure how that info makes it out to all these people reporting what schools are paying what, total budgets, etc...
