If the anti-Beard contingency gets their way I hope they get a coach that embodies their vision of IU Mens Basketball program moving forward. I found a few names. Matt Lynch and Curt Miller. Both successful head coaches .Chris Burns, an up and coming assistant. They're all openly gay. Zero threat to any women. They're 3 fellas you can really get behind. Lol lol lol

And just an fyi McCollum is the smartest coach in college basketball right now. Ive heard so many stories from coaches that are needing help in certain situations and they all say the same thing the first call they make is to McCollum because he always has the answer.

I listen to Kent Sterling, Jim Coyle and Indiana Sports Connection the most. There are others that pop up on YouTube that I may check out. There’s one with Steve Risley as guest but I can’t think of the show or host.
It’s just a matter of time before the name leaks out. I was hoping for Beard but our university apparently makes those accused but not convicted of social injustice pay a heavy fine nonetheless. It’s IU’s way of announcing moral superiority. Bloomington is a town where a lying snake, Vauhxx Booker, remains a martyr. Monroe Co. harbors a lot of outspoken, angry people. They pop up on FB all the time. It shouldn’t be any wonder a HOF coach can get fired here, surrounded by an environment of people who feel like they’ve always gotten the short end of the stick. (Please excuse me for my deviation of thought)
If I hadn’t favored Beard, I would have kept my mouth shut. Now watch IU pass on him and “University of Blue Blood” pick him up, winning more championships under his astute tutelage. You heard it here first, just as I warned everyone over a quarter-century ago when people here first started bitching about Knight supposedly losing his ability to relate to modern youth. I said, “Be careful what you wish for, for what you wish for may come back to bite your fat ass.” This bite in the ass, now fat, needs to come to past. Let’s end it with Chris Beard.
I just mean fan friendly. The fans make this program. We can't have an introverted/aloof personality like Archie.
They are now 26 & 3 this year. Better than the last 2 years with Devries and his PoY son, and with 5 new starters.
I looked at their results. they win a lot of close games. On the year they avg 70.9 and give up 59.2. That shouldn't translate to 26-3.
They are +6 rebounding and defend the 3 well. They hit 6.8 3s at 36% and allow only 31%.
Here's some more on McCullom--
--The guy before him was there 20 years, won 66% of his games, but only made 1 E8 appearance, with no other Sweet 16 or further.
--McCollum was there 15 years, made the tourney 11/14 years (covid), and had 4 Sweet 16s and 4 NCs. He won 81% of his games.
--One thing I notice about him is that he wins a lot of games by 6-10 points. He was 4-0 in NC games and won 3 games by 10, 9, and 6 respectively. The other game was 80-54. We used to have a guy who won a lot of close games.
EDIT--Forgot to mention that Ben M. has finished 1st (10 times) or tied for 1st (2 times) 12 straight years.

His ability to win all those close games, against his peers, is beyond impressive. As has been mentioned here ad nauseum... Is he willing and able to recruit enough talent to become "peers" with the top teams in the conference and country...because I feel strongly if he is, he'd also beat them at a similar rate to what he's beaten his D2 and MVC competition. And then would he be comfortable leading IU's program? He "wouldn't be in Iowa any more"... he'd have to embrace being IU's coach.
My gut tells me he'll be the next Iowa coach. And that if we don't get someone else really good, we'll grumble about how good Iowa will be, for years.
Man , if true about Beard , very disappointing. Already tired of IU again. This is the kind of stuff that will keep us mediocre.
I'd be satisfied with Beard. I just think McCollum would be better.
Just keep whoever the Recruiter (Y?) is off this staff and move him to a Player Personnel slot... He should be able to get Mc up to speed on the NIL field intricacies fairly rapidly...
Bring over Mark Adams from Beards staff as the Defensive coordinator and leave the rest to McCollum...

I think I’d prefer Byington over McCollum. He had a smaller school rolling and now he’s doing it in the SEC.
Again, I’m still hoping for Beard over any of the backup plans.

If you want to blame QB for this year, that's fine. But, QB didn't force May to sign an extension last week. If we wanted May, and May wanted to coach at IU, he wouldn't have extended.
It would if he’s a standup guy and didn’t want to bail after 1 year. QB should’ve fired Woodson last year but too big a coward to fire his buddy.
Dolson wanted to do it last year. Buckner stepped in to protect his buddy.

The case was dropped when it became obvious to everyone but Kitty Carlisle that her client, Vauhxx Booker, was a grandstanding racist piece of sh*t. He was last seen sweeping hallway floors at Bloomington South when not polishing bannisters.
Buckner did prevent the firing of his buddy which impacted us going after May last year.
One must consider we wouldn’t have had his Michigan record on the resume and May may have been passed over by us anyway.
Sure, I accept that. But we're talking about last week's extension. If we wanted Dusty, and Dusty wanted us, then he wouldn't have signed the extension. It's a business. It is going to be beyond obnoxious if every time we lose a game for the next 20 years if people are still referencing QB. After this season, that ship has sailed. It's time to move on.
Dusty was in a tight spot, hard to leave after one year. It won’t be 20 years bc the admin will most likely continue with bad decisions after QB is long gone. Been a happening since RMK was fired. If not beard , then go with Wade or some like that. College hoops is a business now and the Cronin, Williams, etc. are not the answer. Just IMHO.
