Hi. I am calling on all the professional painters and decorators for help and advice. I have been working in the corporate world for too long and I have had enough. A complete change is called for, so having been decorating my own homes for 27 years now, loving it and, I think, quite good at it, I am seriously thinking of setting up my own painting and decorating business. Ideally I would like to work in homes and small office environments interior painter near me. To get this going I am sitting here looking at an application form to do a painting and decorating course at the DIY and Building Skills Training Centre in Hurst, Reading. Does anyone have any advice on any of the above please?

Just add as many throw pillows as possible. Half of the impending divorce will love you.

I think it ia nice idea that you decided to do what you like and work on yourself. I’m making caricature online, and I should say that you have t be prepared for many things

Post-coital cigarettes all around and not-so-casual conversation. Football’s serious business down there.
They would prefer the pigskin for actual skin. Soo ghay.

My cousin married a dude from TX. Not sure how she could stand it -- when I first met him, he was telling me how big a cultural difference there is between Dallas and Fort Worth ... and here he is marrying a Chinese woman, albeit an Asian-American.

Plus he was fat, balding ging. My respect for her dropped like a rock after.

Quit his high-paying job at TI to go preaching in China and now in Indonesia and dragging his kids around with him.
He popped over to SG a couple of months ago for a medical appointment. Had lunch. Still loves Trump. And still insist that there was WMD in Iraq.

Preachers for Trump. Who knew?

First of all, no stable salary; it depends on the season and circumstances. And you have to know how to widen the client base, so you can always have a stable income. It is hard, and it doesn’t come in one day. It is important to stay persistent and not rely on your mood and inspiration. I hope that you’ll be fine and find yourself in it!

I am not getting into the politics. But your cousin's husband is very brave to preach in China. Bad things can happen to him there. He's got my respect.

Not really.

He told me he loved it there. Don't always believe what you read. There is an agenda going on. Like 40 years ago, the Japanese were the evil ones coming over to take over America. Now we are buddies.

Fyi. There are like 60 million Christians in China. And almost 30 million in Indonesia -- they are almost all Chinese race.

Personally, I think it's 10 times more dangerous now -- preaching in Indonesia, especially in the rural areas where they are now.

For me, the priority now is the creation of an offshore company. This is a high-priority for me in terms of my business. I identified an appropriate supplier for this, as well as for financial protection https://astra-trust.com/transfer-of-offshore-company/ It's fantastic that I can complete even crucial tasks like boat registration.

It's relevant for me now

Congratulations on considering a career change and pursuing your passion for painting and decorating! Here are a few tips and advice to help you on your journey:
  1. Gain Professional Skills: Taking a painting and decorating course, like the one you mentioned, is a great way to enhance your skills and knowledge in the field. It can provide you with a solid foundation and help you learn new techniques, industry standards, safety protocols, and best practices.
  2. Build Experience: While training is important, hands-on experience is equally valuable. Start by offering your services to friends, family, or acquaintances who may need painting or decorating work done. This will allow you to practice your skills, build a portfolio, and gain references for future clients.
  3. Networking: Connect with other professionals in the painting and decorating industry. Attend trade shows, industry events, or join local professional associations or groups. Networking can help you establish relationships, learn from experienced painters, and potentially gain referrals or subcontracting opportunities.
  4. Licensing and Insurance: Research the licensing requirements and regulations for starting a painting and decorating business in your area. Ensure you comply with any necessary permits or certifications. Additionally, consider obtaining liability insurance to protect yourself and your clients in case of any accidents or damages.
  5. Marketing and Branding: Develop a strong brand identity for your business. Create a professional website, establish a presence on social media platforms, and showcase your work through high-quality photographs. Utilize online directories and platforms specific to tradespeople to increase your visibility and reach potential clients.
  6. Pricing and Estimation: Determine your pricing structure by considering factors such as materials, labor, overhead costs, and desired profit margins. Research the market rates in your area to remain competitive. Develop a system for estimating project costs accurately to provide accurate quotes to clients.
  7. Customer Service: Providing excellent customer service is crucial for success. Ensure clear communication with your clients, listen to their needs, and offer professional advice when necessary. Strive for punctuality, cleanliness, and attention to detail in your work to exceed customer expectations.
Remember, starting a business requires careful planning, hard work, and dedication. It's important to create a solid business plan, establish financial stability, and continuously improve your skills and knowledge in the field. Good luck on your new venture!
