We were returning their money to them. It was going to be awarded to them by the World Court or some such body. Doing it in cash avoided any hassles with the restrictions on electronic transfers.
Trump totally squandered our massive advantage over China when he nixed the TPP. Canceling the Iran treaty was also a massive blunder.
That said, Biden should not be engaging in any talks with Russia right now on the Iran situation. Putin is a psychopathic cowardly criminal against humanity. The only discussions with Russian should be demanding Putin be turned over to the Haag and Russia remove its military from Ukraine’s sovereign territory.

It was not working, at all. They were still developing nuclear capability and missile technology as even the UN admitted after the fact. The only thing the deal is doing is pushing our traditional allies in the region to seek new partners.

These guys don't think it is a big deal that the second largest economy on the planet is in discussions to buy their oil in Yuan. Wait until the precedent is set though. Losing the Petro-dollar would be bad news.
