98 Year Old IU Grad Fighting For His Life & A Chance To See IU Beat OSU

My Dad graduated IU Dental in 1950 & has been supporting IU athletics for over 80 years.

We had to rush him to the emergency room Wednesday night - bad common cold..

Yesterday was not looking good. He was pretty non-responsive yesterday until the end of visiting hours.

He started talking a little & asked if he could get the IU game on that TV?

He has bounced back some today.

I have never anticipated a kickoff this much before. Go IU!!

My dad was at the IUSD the same time as your’s, having graduated in ‘47 for his DDS and MS in ortho. 1950. Both my folks were huge IU fans and would have enjoyed this season, as has your dad. How’s he feeling this morning?

Hi, I was able to watch the game with him today. He still has a ways to go.. He started at Bloomington, but got pulled into the last part of WWII. So, he came back & graduated in 1950. But his older brother was already through by 46 or 47. In fact, my uncle Bob served as a Dentist in the Korean War for most of the conflict. Both practiced in Mishawaka, IN with their Dad. Your Dad might have known my Uncle.

My dad’s dental training was interrupted by his call to service in Korea, too. The government called it their V-12 Navy College Training Program.
