Iowa had 61 points with 4:23 remaining and IU was leading 69-61. Iowa outscored us 19-8 the rest of the way. In the last 4:23, this is how it went:

Both Teams had 10 possessions. Here is what each team did with it.

IU
- 2 turnovers
- 2 for 6 field goals
- 0 -1 from three
- Free Throws: 4 - 4
- Offensive Boards: 2
- Pts Scored: 8

Iowa
- 1 turnover
- 7 for 9 field goals
- 4 - 4 from three
- Free Throws: 1 -1
- Offensive Rebounds: 2
- Pts Scored: 19

Outside of the bank shot by Bohannon and Iowa shooting lights out and IU continuing to miss open looks, it was this that secured the Iowa win during this stretch.

IU continued to miss wide open looks including the stretch of 3:00 to 2:33 where IU got two offensive rebounds and missed three wide open threes. One by X, then another by X then another by Kopp. Conversely, Iowa converted both of their offensive rebounds into 5 points with a layup and a three. And if going 4 -4 from three wasn't enough, they got another three points on an and one.

A great effort by our team in the tournament. Have to believe our third game in three days led to the 48 points by Iowa in 2H with 19 coming in the final 4:23. This was compounded by not having Geronimo. We needed his minutes and defense and rebounding. But in the end, the final 4:23 was really a depiction of our team's struggles all season. The inability to hit wide open shots. Period. Tip your hat to Iowa. They never once looked panicked or nervous. Having shooters helps build confidence for sure. Tough to win when your opponent hits 14 threes for over 40%.

Hopefully our three game performance was enough to get us into the dance!

Yeah, knowing what we know now. I wish Bates/Leal had Kopp/Stewart's minutes. Think we would be a better team. But I get why we went the way we did.

X can go from really good to great if he can 1. Stop getting two fouls in the first half. And 2. Stop saving the worst TOs imaginable for the final minutes.

Sad to see happen over and over again. Like I said, hard to complain too much about his performance today, but DAMN.

I have said all season that if Kopp and Stewart are not getting open looks at three and/or are not converting, there is zero reason to have them both in the game at the same time. Zero.

He is the one guy who I am confident in at the line. He has proven that all season and did it again today. But yeah, you cannot turn it over in critical moments. It's not as if Iowa is a defensive juggernaut. When he dribbled it into the baseline and three defenders I wanted to rip my tv off the wall. Four other guys on the floor with only two defenders. It's basic stuff. Oh well. IU can keep it close with anyone we play. Us winning is contingent upon our guards hitting open shots and not falling apart down the stretch. It's been that way all season. Kopp and especially Stewart have underperformed to their potential when it comes to hitting open looks. If they were employees, you would say it's their job.

Galloway got a lot of Stewart's minutes today but he can't throw it in the ocean from a boat either. We would be a top 10-15 team nationally with just one guy who was a dead three shooter.

Kopp and especially Stewart have been really bad on many levels for this team. I hate the idea of mortgaging youth minutes for guys just because they’re old. Why should Galloway, Geronimo, and Leal have to look up to these transfers? I’m not sure why Stewart plays at all.

Defense Defense not closing out on shooters I said to win this game Iowa has to be held to 70 or under we had them there and we let them go on a 19-6 run to end the game. Fatigue was there Bates should of had so more minutes Galloway was not good today also Race looked Fatigued he couldn't keep up with Murray.

I kept saying no 3's, and they hit threes and had three-point plays. I'll trade 2's at the end any day.

Playing four games in four days makes for great theatre. But the Hoosiers get an extra day to recover and at this point that has more upside than another chance for injuries.

I won't tip my hat to Iowa for winning on a lucky shot. And don't tell me it wasn't pure luck.

We played as well as we can against a great-shooting team like Iowa. Basically, we're playing 3 on 5 on offense.

I'm proud of the boys.

Yep. I don't think it's too much to ask for guys to hit 40% when playing at a high D1 program. Even mid to upper 30's. In the last 10 games, Kopp and Stewarts stats are:

Field Goals: 39 - 120 / 32.5%
Threes: 25 - 79 / 31.6%
Free Throws: 19 - 27 / 70.4%
Assists: 22
Turnovers: 21
Assist to TO Ratio: 1 to 1

Individually, we are definitely getting more from Kopp on both ends of the floor. Here are individual stats on both over the past 10 games.

Kopp
FG's: 22 - 60 / 36.7%
3's: 14 - 39 / 35.9%
FT's: 11 - 14 / 78.6%
Assists: 10
Turnovers: 14
Asst to TO Ratio: .71

Stewart
FG's: 17 - 60 / 28.3%
3's: 11 - 40 / 27.5%
Ft's: 8 - 13 / 61.5%
Assists: 12
TO's: 7
Asst to TO Ratio: 1.7 - 1

Let's hope so, but there's is nothing comforting about this. Blew this one.. Obviously they're vastly better, if you can turn it on in 4 min., we did well this week, but that is just were we are. What the hell were they doing though, like rope a dope, if they can turn it on and off like that, they'll go far. Like hey, we're down 8 with 4, perfect!

As I said, that shot was not what won the game for Iowa. It was their shooting the entire game. Also, had we been able to hit our wide open shots outside the paint at a reasonable rate, we win the game. Probably by double digits. But that's been our story all year.

Galloway was glaringly weak of effort today. Okay, the effort was there but the effectiveness wasn't. He made some real bonehead plays. He was expected to play too many minutes too soon after his leg injury. His game really deteriorated this third game. I still like him. He's learning.

This is my silver lining even though it’s weak sauce. Plus, not having to play Purdue in that 4th game.

Moral of the story? Don’t finish 9th
I am with you. I don't want any part of Purdue for the championship (assuming they get there). And they should.....comfortably.

I agree. Bad game for him. Bad fouls and bad passes on offense. Not a good outing. We missed JG immensely today.

IU is snake-bit with injuries. What a horrible time for us to lose Geronimo. He may be raw but he's talented and just a little out of control right now, but yes, he was sorely missed. Every body counts in this daily game tournament.

While Kopp hit a couple big shots, overall, he just isn’t going to get it done if we want to take that next step. Same for Stewart. Still a very solid effort from this team and they gave themselves a chance to win the game.

He was the worst player on the floor. Kopp played pretty good defense but Galloway let bohannon kill us.
He was gassed. 3 games in a row coming off injury. It started to show a little bit vs Illinois.

Hoping they have a few days to recover and regroup. I don’t think they will be in Dayton, but who knows. Geronimo says he’s fine so that’s good.

I just want to get a 7, 10 or 11 seed. Have to believe we make it to the party of 64.

We’ve been basically injury free all season. Get outside the bubble and look at other programs. We’ve been very fortunate this year.

WTF you talking about. Phin missed 7-8 games. Trey missed even more. You aren’t injury free for sure. Fell and hit your head. 🤦🏻 Those two are pretty big losses.
Stop it. Those guys don’t even start. You act like we lost TJD for half the season. Get outside the IU bubble.

Lander's development was hampered by lingering injury as was Duncomb's. Both hurt practice quality as well.

Both are key players. Team was very different with them both healthy. You clearly don't know much about how a basketball team functions or the game itself. How drunk are you?
