28th Amendment

ByteDance hasn’t wanted to sell it. And they were obviously hoping for the courts to preclude them from having to.

They might still not sell it.

That’s not the point. It was given tons of chances to either change its policies around data collection and privacy and hasn’t. It was then told it needed to sell.

A corporate strategy based on assuming you are going to win a legal battle is a terrible strategy.

This is such a shit show.

I agree w Sen. cotton, tik tok had years to find a buyer and do something but chose to play chicken. It’s time ram it head on and shut it down, but Biden doesn’t want to be the bad guy, since he is already viewed as a disaster.

I think that’s reasonable. It’ll be interesting to see how this transpires.

I listened to a little bit of Kevin O’Leary discussing his offer and the competing one. And apparently it’s a matter of contention about the inclusion of the algorithm. Normally, you’d think this wouldn’t even be an issue. But I get the impression that the Chinese folks really don’t want that algorithm falling into unfriendly hands.

But I bet the CCP loves that our political process is tied up in knots working on it. Welcome to the electronic battle field.
