28th Amendment

As a lifelong Dem.....

Can we please just get back to fighting for poor people and bitching about rich people, as God intended.

Mother****ers couldn't codify Roe over 50 years but this spineless, feckless POS wants to yell "Deuces" "mic drop" on his way out and slide this shit across home plate? Goddammit. I'm so ****ing tired.

No but he had four damn years and he's Friday News Dumping a constitutional amendment. What world are we living in at this point.

No question this is stoopid. Nothing to gain and another gravy stain on his tie on his way out the door.

Personally I think Joe did pretty damn well with what he had to work with and the circumstances he found himself in. He's just a lousy communicator and surrounded himself with second tier advisors. His biggest failure was his inability to move the country beyond Donald Trump.

You dont have to be a lifelong Dem. You can come to the other side. It’s very easy.

Everyone knew that he had a stutter and asthma. Without those to debilitating, we would have been epic.... In a totally different way, but here we are.

I'll say this until I'm blue in the face: the DC establishment has made their own bed on Trump. Quite frankly, they deserve him.

They know damn well what wind has driven his sails: illegal immigration. In fact, they even (at long last) made a half-hearted 11th hour attempt to address it with the Lankford bill. They might well have thwarted Trump's rise in 2016 had they passed the Gang of 8 bill in 2013. But they screwed up by taking the teeth out of it on the border. They just couldn't stomach that.

The Lankford bill was an improvement. But even that was basically predicated on maintaining a high number of encounters between Ports of Entry.

And it clearly hasn't just been the Democrats running interference for the status quo on the border and illegal immigration. It never has been. One of the guys who was one of the Gang of 8 is about to become Secretary of State.

Record inflation. An open border. He’s a shit stain on American history and didn’t have to be. He got co-opted by 20 something progressives with little intellect and experience and substituted his 50 years of centrist experience for theirs. As manchin and others have noted it was and is an exceptionally odd decision. My suspicion is that had he run instead of Hilary we would have gotten old moderate joe then. This time around he was just too old. Too easy to co-opt. He’s really set the party behind.

Also not going to enforce the Tik-Tok ban:

On this, I can't really say I blame him.

Politically, it's a hot potato. So why get needlessly burned 3 days before he leaves office? Make Trump get all the burn. Moreover, the SCOTUS ruling may change the landscape as far as a possible acquisition. And that could stand to benefit from having some extra time.

While I agree with a lot of that, most of the monetary expansion that fueled the inflation happened in response to Covid -- done to facilitate relief expenditures signed into law by Donald Trump.

Biden (foolishly, IMO) assumed ownership of it when he signed ARP soon after he was inaugurated. That wasn't just bad policy, it was short-sighted politics.
