I thought it might be fun to have a go-to prediction thread that we can check back on at the end of the season. The exercise is simple; predict the final outcome of the various categories listed below. We can, of course, discuss the predictions throughout the season before we get to the final analysis. Feel free to copy and paste the bolded category titles (and, of course, erase my non-bolded predictions) so that it is easier to follow from post to post. If I am feeling up to it, I might tally up all the choices to get somewhat of a consensus. If you choose to participate, please do so before the South Carolina game. Without further ado...

IU's Final Regular Season Record (not including B1G Tournament): 24-7

IU's Ceiling and Floor for Reg. Season Wins: 26 ceiling, 21 floor

Did you come up with this after watching last night??

Winning the B10 (15-5), 24-7 ,,,, but a 3 seed?

Hmm, you must not think too highly of the top of our conference.

I actually began thinking about it before the first exhibition game, but I'm just now getting to it. I made my choices with the entire season in mind. I've been watching the pre-season and opening games with the attitude that I don't know yet what these very early results (good, bad, or indifferent) mean in the grand scheme of things.

I see your weak sarcasm at work. I certainly don't think IU played any more poorly last night than Purdue did in their opening game. Obviously there's lots to improve on, but there was plenty of good in their performance too that they can build on. It's silly to project so early in the season how they will be by say Feb 1. I image both IU and Purdue will both greatly improve from now until then.

Well, a 3 seed could be the 9th overall seeded team, so I think it's probable. It wouldn't surprise me if the B1G is seeded higher than 3.

Just an honest question. Did we look like a champion last night? I think we make the tournament but don’t see a BIG champion caliber unless Woody change fed his coaching quickly

I’ve watched a few non-IU games so far, and no one looks like they are in mid-season form. As to be expected, of course.

Agree but I’m saying from a coaching standpoint. Offense, rotations, fundamentals, etc..last night we looked like same team from last year with different players. Stand around in half court with little off ball movement or ball movement

Still waaay to early.. But I do like some of the pieces..We'll know more after Thanksgiving..
Watching Gonzaga the other night..
We're not at the Bulldogs level..imo.
But by March on a neutral site.We might be..
A second weekend team in the big dance that's a real possibility...

We looked like that too often. But when we didn't look like that, when we moved it around more, we looked B10 champ caliber.

Until a Woodson coached team does it consistently, I'll believe it when I see it. But maybe it will organically start to take over?? We have the talent and depth to be the best team in the B10. And there were stretches last night where we looked like a team that could be that team. It was just bracketed by longer stretches of 'same ole' Woodson bball. Same ole Woodson bball, with this roster, probably equals a 6-8 seed in the NCAAs.

Same old stuff on defense switching leaving guys wide open for three's and second chance rebounds. No flow on offense if Mgbako doesn't go for 31 it really looks like a shit show. I still don't think we have enough shooting Carlyle, Rice, don't have good form and Goode is even bricking shots. I really see this team as a mid pack team 20wins 8 or 9 seed. I don't think it's talent it's the coaching and philosophy holding Indiana back.

Assuming we beat UL, that Gonzaga game will be a bell weather after what they did to Baylor.

Seriously? Outside of a handful of dump downs to Reneau we absolutely did not run through the post like the last 3 years. Almost all of Ballo’s points came off pick and roll, not post ups. Took 16 3s and hit nearly 40% of them. We pushed the pace much more often. I saw a lot of promise in our offense. Need to clean up rebounding and TOs.
