My kid had a game today so I just tried to watch highlights on you tube right now. It pulled up the 1992 iu vs mich state game at first. Just amazing the ball movement and cutting etc we had on that team. They were just a machine of a team. For now I guess this is all we got but man wish we could get that back at iu.

I watched IU vs unlv the other night

an offensive machine!! Cutting, post ups, jumpers from anywhere from anyone but all within the flow.

i know there are a lot of us on here in Btown at the time who thought that 92 team was going to be "our" championship...plus we were "due" for one at the time....lol....we are a far cry from those days.

I was ok with ‘92 because I just
Knew that ‘93 was a banner year. Thought ‘95-‘00 was beyond horrible.
little did we know

Lots of things have changed in the game since then regardless. Not for the better. I hate the 30 second clock with the 20 second reset. That reset is just ridiculous. I wonder how different the results would be back then. They had 45 reset. That’s an eternity for a guy like Knight. 93 they went to 35 with a 35 reset.

Watch the offensive movement of that team, then watch this year’s group. You’ll figure out pretty quickly why the offense is currently not good.

There is a lot not being taught any more, like Guyton jab steps to get open or the grab a rebound and shake them off, the latter of which they might have made illegal now, but we used to have all the tricks in the basket and now we don't

Leal sucks
He doesn't suck. It's the wrong offense for him. The game is too fast for him at this point. This might change with experience. But he has an ivy league mind, he's not going pro with basketball. So he might as well transfer.

We are the basketball version of Nebraska football.
No, we are not. We have been getting Nebraska like results, but one thing that we have that Nebraska does not is a pretty good recruiting pipeline in state, if we can take advantage of it. Nebraska has to do most of their recruiting out of state and the majoroty of that used to be from states that have no Big Ten presence.

Our problems are a continuation from the prior staff. The personnel of a team these days dictates quite a bit of what you can do. TMP has shown our playmaker misses open shooters, our interior preseason A.A. has fallen back on bad habits, our shooters when they do get the ball are either missing shots or are incapable of creating their own shot, and all of that adds up to struggles.

The roster needs an overhaul and the people staying on the team need to really work on their deficiencies.

We were watching some IU games from that team while driving back from Florida Sunday. Those guys would beat the current IU team by 60 points.

We also pulled up the IU / Duke game from the 02 tourney, always a good watch.

The state of Indiana isn’t what it once was as far as recruiting goes. Sure you can build a damn good team with some but even Knight had some of his best recruits from other states.

Yeah, you need other states but Illinois, and Ohio have guys that we pull from and they have teams in state that play in the same conference (so familiarity with the school, able to attend games for the family, etc.) I believe Nebraska used to pull from Texas in the past and that is maybe a harder pull for them now since they no longer play any schools from Texas on a regular basis.

Yeah I really wish we were not relegated to having to keep watching these but it is all we got really now. I guess the Watford shot as well but nothing else really in the last twenty years.

Why not just stop watching? Why keep posting negative Nancy posts and responses?

We’ve pulled some really nice players out of Illinois.
