This will be the first meeting between the teams this season and from what I've seen, Rutgers (28-27, 15-15) was playing some of their best baseball as the regular season came to a close. IU (31-23, 16-14) finished the regular season with an RPI of 63, while Rutgers had an RPI of 80.

The game is scheduled for Tues at 3 p.m. ET and it will be on BTN.

Here is how they finished the regular season in the three major categories:

Batting - IU narrowly beat out Iowa for 1st place with a team avg of .299. Rutgers was 10th with a .286 avg.

Pitching - IU's team ERA really improved over that latter part of the season and they finished 10th with a team ERA of 5.79, while Rutgers finished 12th with a team ERA of 5.81.

Fielding - IU finished 13th with a fielding pct of 96.9 while Rutgers was 2nd with a pct of 97.9. IU had 57 errors in 54 games, while Rutgers had 41 errors in 55 games.

Starting pitching:

It's TBD for both teams. However, if the Michigan series is any indication, it will probably be Ryan Kraft on the mound for IU. What IU's pitching strategy will be for the tournament remains to be seen as far as who starts the games, and obviously it's one game at a time with a game with Iowa to follow this one. With Iowa playing Weds, we will probably not see Obermueller on Friday.

Weather forecast:

Game time is 3 p.m. ET and there will be a threat of rain that afternoon. The current forecast is that it's expected to be 57 degrees at game time and cloudy with a 49% chance of rain. The wind is expected to be WNW at 16 mph. The threat of rains builds up about two hours after the start of this game, so we shall see.
