10 million

According to the Field of 68 IU has an NIL budget in of 10 Million.
In three years it will be 20 million. Guys from the nba will be asking if they can go back to college. I remember not long ago when Sean Miller and the others got caught paying guys dick vitale said that was the end of college basketball. It was but just not in the way he thought.

Vitale was pushing for revenue share 20 years ago.

I will find the direct quote he said it would be the end of college basketball as we know. Sean Miller basically got fired for what is now totally legal and then some. There are no rules anymore especially when it comes to academics. I have not heard of a guy being ineligible for academics since 2006 and I forget his name now. Did players suddenly become that much smarter? LOL!

And I predict in three years you will need 20 million to field a good team. College basketball will become what Pete Bell feared in blue chips.

Did they specify if that money is just from the collectives and donors or includes the expected revenue sharing money later this year?

Yeah the academic angle is now a joke. Some of these guys never step foot in a classroom and I bet many of them don't even do their own work in their online classes Years ago is was not uncommon for a kid to get suspended for bad grades or missing class. Eventually we'll see some of these same kids suing the universities for not giving them a true education.

There may be guys like leal who get a four year degree and go to class but some of the huge money guys probably never set a foot in a class. They take an online test where they can just look up the answers on the internet imo. That is why calling them student athletes is just laughable at this point. The huge Minnesota scandal when they got caught having a woman write their papers is probably just run of the mill stuff now. Maybe we should just go to a 24 second shot clock and change the NCAA name to the NBA 2.0. LOL!

As Pete Bell said in blue chips this isnt about education is about bleep - money!

And players are encouraged to adopt the same “majors” and take the same classes. So the team tutors can have sessions where they all log in together to take the online tests. It’s basically the Roy Williams UNC model on steroids.

It honestly is just pathetic and probably even worse in football. May as well just get rid of the college cheerleaders and bring in pro cheerleaders and a 24 second shot clock. These are not students and they need to quit addressing them as such during the post game media session.

Also pretty easy to pass an online test these days when you can just look up the answer.

Student exam cheating has always been a major concern, even before the major shift to remote proctoring and online exams during the pandemic. According to a study done in 2007, 60.8% of college students admitted to cheating while a whopping 95% of these admitted not getting caught!

To put it in perspective, Michigan Football gave the Freshman QB They recruited a $10 Million NIL package. Think of that, one football player out of 100 plus getting more than our entire budget. I would hate to be that Kid. if He isn't immediate Superstar, people will view Him as an overpaid failure. If He has an average career, it could divide the whole Team by alienating Teammates Who are producing at higher levels and are being paid much less.

I know it was just an expression when you said “I’d hate to be that kid” but in reality if I could have been paid 10mil to go play football at UM, I could handle criticism, deserved or not.

I think it will be higher then 10 million for possibly 15 players I would say closer to 15 million

Tucker DeVries 1.5 million
Luke Goode 1 million
Coner Enright 1 million
Trent Sisley 1 Million
Flory Bidunga 2 million
Josh Dix 1 million

One million for sisley is insane but as it we are now the nba 2.0 in college i guess its just the new norm.

What is that like 3 guys? I'm hoping we only have to do this the first couple of years and then go with high school kids who want to play for IU not the money.
Those days are long gone, my friend. You’re dreaming about the age of four year players. In the modern era, these are the players who aren’t good enough to go elsewhere.

There is no such thing now its a free for all every year. Guys getting six years with unlimited transfers. You cannot build a roster anymore its free agency ever spring. Seriously we need to quit even pretending school is part of this. These are just guys making money for themselves and a school now. Its comical IU wont hire beard because there are worried about a reputation and most of these guys dont even attend classes anymore. Its comical given its the nba now.
