IU's two defeats (on the road) are now playing for the National Championship, name me one team who can make that statement this season.
Yea. Those were two really hard games against huge programs with way more NIL that us, and our staff hadn't even been here one year. It sucks we didn't play better, we have to own that, but we shouldn't be discouraged. IU is continuing to put resources into FB so we can hopefully better compete with them next time, and that's all we can ask for. Onwards and upwards.
Two of our victories this year were against the two teams that played for the Natty last year, Michigan & Washington.
IU's perceived lack of a tough schedule was based on the perception that IU wasn't that good so quickly. Prognosticators were unwilling to see the games and change their perception of IU despite IUJ not trailing any game until MSU and routing a 5-0 Nebraska team people believed had turned the corner. Beating Nebraska by 50 points convinced people Nebraska wasn't very good instead of IU improving to be a very good team.
They also beat the 2 teams in the title game last year. Has a team ever played all 4 in one year?
I remember reading that every SEC (Southern Excuse Conference) school would beat IU because, well, we didn't beat anyone.
iirc IU ultimately finished with a better strength-of-schedule than Ole Miss (among others)
This is the first-time in a long minute that I will miss the college football season. IU had their fingerprints all over it and still do. When they speak of what both teams have in common, it's that it took their best to beat IU. Go Hoosiers!

Not to mention them scoring a TD with 30 seconds left. Although, to be fair, their RB should have scored on the run a few plays earlier.
IU finished ahead of OSU in the conference standings and IU beat the UM team that beat OSU at the horseshit.
IU comes to the party in a position where they have to earn it. Your example of the NEb game is perfect.
I have said IU was #3 this year based on how the play-off and bowls turned out and it was good the author saw it and explained why. I wish recruits could see IU #3 this year and the best players would come to IU.
